How are you today? Hope you are feeling good!😌
I saw @alienarthive Cosmic Creations Theme is MYTHOLOGY. I decided to participate and at first I was going to illustrate was Heracles or Hercules.
I was reading his story in google and stumble upon his Twelve Labors. Last labor was to capture Cerberus, the great three-headed guardian of the Underworld. And since I love creating creatures I change my mind and go for the Cerberus.
I find it fascinating to draw not just a dog but a 3 headed dog 😆 and I enjoy it a lot. Hope you like it😌
Without further ado, join me walk through the process of creation and hope you have fun as the art progress from the start to finish.
Digital Art Process
It seems silly to hear, but this is my first step of creating the Cerberus😅
I usually don't include this step in my blog post because it seems not necessary.
But for me this is important. This is the time when I stare long enough in a blank white canvass I find myself not doing any art at all🤣 That's why I do scribble lines to eliminate that white blank canvass. Also this is the time when I imagine what the composition of the illustration will be.
✨✨✨
Next step is where I draw the rough sketch of the creature/character base on that composition. This seems solid so I proceed to the next step.
I do the polish line art. It's not so clean but it's okay because lines will be eliminated as I go to rendering. I'm happy with that 😁 alright unto the next step let's go!
✨✨✨
In here, I make the base color. It's just like when you are coloring an illustration book blocking each section with a flat color.
The next image, I fill in the shadows. Try to locate where the light will be hitting and the opposite side will be your shadows.
✨✨✨
After that I start to render the stone where Cerberus is standing. I added a flow of lava indicating it is underworld.
The next image is I render Cerberus. It's a challenge but I just trust the process and go as what it seems right in rendering.
✨✨✨
Final Artwork
Lastly, I did the background. Add necessary small details and finished the illustration.😁

Thank you very much!
