Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Music Community. My name is Jasper and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town in South Africa! The weather has turned pretty awful here and I am suffering from flu AGAIN! (Did the Covid lockdowns actually make our immune systems pathetic?)
This is my 35th week contributing to "Three Tune Tuesday", an initiative started by @ablaze. It is week 100 overall! What a massive milestone for @ablaze! Well done!
In all of my TTT entries I like to play the songs on guitar as well as share the original videos... and I have a new pattern for "Three Tune Tuesday" where I pick three songs by one of my favourite artists, that has inspired me - as I also write original songs.
This week I would like to do Bob Marley... I had his Greatest Hits CD as a kid! I've even found the perfect hat to wear... at my parent's house of all places! Is there something they're not telling me?
Let's warm up with the relatively simple "Redemption Song"! Here is the original version:
Now let's do a song that is often incorrectly attributed to Eric Clapton. It turns out that Clapton's version is just an awesome cover, but Bob Marley's original might just be even better... I'm talking about "I Shot the Sheriff"... Here's the original version, which is super funky:
Finally, I think the most famous Bob Marley song of all is "No Woman No Cry" and here's how that is supposed to sound live!:
So that's week 100 done and dusted! I hope you enjoyed the Bob Marley songs! Which song was your favourite? Did I miss an important one to you?
And so, which artist will I do three covers of next week, for TTT number 101?
