Hello everybody on HIVE, and especially the Vibes Community. My name is Jasper, and I'm writing (and singing) to you from Cape Town, South Africa! Welcome to Week 13 of the Vibes Web3 Music Competition!
Today I am joined by my good friend and fellow Hiver @Clairemobey on backing vocals. We will be singing an original Anti-War song I have written called “God Cries in Thunder”. Musically, it has some jazzy chords in the verse and a bluesy chorus structure.
The theme of the song is to be an Anti-War Protest song where God is sad and angry that we cannot seem to learn from history, and stop fighting each other through our fear and hatred of cultures that are different from us because we haven’t taken the time to learn and understand…
Well, I hope you like this one despite its heavy theme! Thank you for listening! Best of luck to everyone entering the Contest!

Lyrics to “God Cries in Thunder!” by @jasperdick / MobeyDick (original)
I saw the news today, but I had to look away, there’s blood on the border
Of another land, where they don’t understand the true price of a soldier
And over and over it goes
For reasons that nobody knows
Fear and hatred keeps pulling us under
Until God cries in thunder
Can you see, can you hear, can you feel, can you tell?
God cries in Thunder!
I saw the news again, but I couldn’t take the pain, that war’s not over
Another soldier dies, and another family cries, over lines drawn on paper
And over and over it goes
For reasons that nobody knows
Fear and hatred keep pulling us under
Until God cries in thunder
Can you see, can you hear, can you feel, can you tell?
God cries in Thunder!
Can you see, can you hear, can you feel, can you tell?
God cries in Thunder!
