“Bella, what are you doing?” Neomi asked in surprise after she walked in through the door, I have successfully turned our house left by my mother into a Halloween party room.
“Is it a Halloween party?” I screamed on top of my voice to overshadow the heavy background music.
"C'mon, we aren't supposed to be parting; we are supposed to be on guard,” she said with an etched eyebrow.
“A little isn't too much, sis; we have to have fun even if it is a little,” I said, moving my body to the beating of the music.
Our house was already crowded with people with their horrible attire. I was dressed like a Cinderella princess, my hair back behind my head neatly with a glittering crown on my head, a long ball gown. This was made possible using my magic.
Cynthia walked in surprise, just like Neomi, but unlike Neomi, who doesn't like parties, Cynthia was cool with it.
“Hurry up, you guys should get dressed and enjoy the party,” I said to my sister's, leaving them behind and heading for a drink.
“You don't do that,” Dave said when I tried using my magic to create a picture of a drink.
“C’mon on Dave, you don't have to be my daddy,” I yell with displeasure.
“Every action has a reaction, Bella; if you use your magic for anything that's not meaningful, it always has consequences.”
Let me introduce my family to you, Neomi, the conserved one, beautiful and a scientist. She is different from me because she is half demon and half witch. When her dark side overshadows her human side, it will be hard to control her. I pray it never comes to that. She grew up different from us, and after my mother's death, she showed up to tell us she is our sister.
Cynthia is kind, beautiful, and sometimes a terrible teacher because she treats me like a child, and no matter how I screamed that I'm a grownup, she still doesn't just... like now she is looking at me like I have gone nuts.
I'm the youngest of them all.
“We have to be on alert and expect the worst case. Since we can't find the demon, we have to search for it,” Dave advised.
He is our tutor, and he mentioned we are the three witches who are going to save the world. It all happened so fast after my mother's death. I gained my power; I could hear people's thoughts by just touching them. The first day my power showed up, I was in school. I thought I was insane and couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. I ran home only to figure out my sister's have their powers too. Neomi could freeze time while Cynthia could move objects.
We all didn't know how it came about before Dave came forth to teach and train us how to use our powers and how to control them. Our lives turned into an unexpected twist of fate with assignments of killing demons who are ready to wipe off the human race.
“We have to seal the house with a spell; nobody leaves, nobody enters while we go in search of the demons. Remember, it gets attracted to people who are virgins and suckers their blood in order to get stronger,” Dave reminded us. The other of my sisters went about gathering the portion that will be used to seal out the house.
Three deaths have been recorded already.
“What if the demon is already inside? We could risk the lives of those people,” I said to what I now call my family.
“If the demon is inside, that means it could hurt those humans inside, and the only way to find out is to lure it out with virgin blood, Dave said.
“How are we supposed to get virgin blood?” I asked, throwing my hand in the air out of frustration.
“I will do it,” Neomi said, and I was shocked to hear her speak; she is a virgin. How old is she? She's 28 and I'm just 20 and already lost mine.
“You're a virgin,” I asked.
“Don't look at me that way; I haven't had the chance yet to mingle.”
“Girls, we have to get this done. Neomi, this is a risk, but you have to be brave. We will be here for you,” Dave said, patting her shoulder. The thought of luring the demon out is terrifying. Though we didn't have any choice yet because we don't even know the host the demon was using.
Neomi was given a dagger, which she used to cut her wrist, leaving stains of blood on the floor.
We moved into the woods, leaving stains of blood on the tree trunk so the demon could easily find us. Suddenly, there was a weird sound and a loud roar coming from a distance. We looked into space but saw nothing.
“The demons are coming for us,” Dave reminded us as we walked briskly into the woods filled with a terrifying darkness. I was so terrified at the groin that it filled the air with shirred rage and anger.
And there it was, the demon, but the host is none other than Susan, my childhood friend who has just woken up from a coma. She has been in a coma for over four months, but she miraculously woke up a few days ago.
“We don't have to kill her; we have to get the demon out of her.”
