Having moved to a new school because we changed locations, I noticed that my son was not performing well.
To help him learn at home, I had to get him a marker board and a chart.
I planned on teaching him his numbers and letters from the board. This is so that he wouldn't have to stress his teacher so much at school.
Aside been able to teach him, the other reason why I bought the marker board was for him to learn how to copy from the board. The chart is for reading the alphabet and counting numbers.
There's a little girl drawn on this chart I bought, and it's supposed to help kids learn body parts. The chart also has states, capitals, shapes, and colors.
These things were what made the chart attractive to me because I felt that my son would have a lot to work with.
As I type, the chat is hung in one part of the room where my son can always stand and read.
One afternoon, I was still very busy with my work online and couldn't really focus on what my son was doing. That's why it's helpful that he helped himself. He already knows his numbers and letters and only needs a little guidance from me when he is doing it.
When he was done, his cousin came into my room and asked him if he was done, and he replied saying yes.
Seeing that mommy was still busy and didn't want to go out to play, the serious pupils decided to turn to the chart to read.
They started with the letters, then moved to numbers. When they got bored, they moved to the part of the body and read what was there. When they got bored, they switched to shapes and colors.
I heard my son and his cousin saying, "this is the color red, green, blue, and pink."
Yet again, they got bored and decided to identify shapes.
I was enjoying the fact that instead of playing rough, they were using the time to learn.
Until I heard them say, this is a circle, this is a square, this is a triangle, this is a rectangle, this is BUM BUM.
I got confused at that point, wondering where they saw buttocks among the shapes they were reading. Before I turned to face them, I could see and hear them asking themselves, "what is this?"
Before they finally settled on the word buttocks, as in bum bum.
I had to look up to see what they were reading and asked them to show me the buttock shape.
My son pointed at the heart shape💜 and said, "this is it".
In my mind, I laughed and wondered, "what is the similarity between the shape of a heart and the shape of buttocks?"
I calmly told him, "Nat, that is not a buttock or bum bum like you said, it is the love shape and can also be called a heart okay?
He replied saying okay and I could see on his face that he blushed after I corrected him.
Ever since then, whenever he wants to say the name of the heart shape and he is not sure or has forgotten the correction I gave him, he quickly comes to me to remind him. He would say.
"Can you tell me what this shape is called again, mom?"😂😂
