Splinterlands: Captain Fellblade is useful in back to basics and melee mayhem

in #hive-1332311 hours ago

Splinterlands is a complex game and it allows for various different cards and strategies. Each fight is different as there are various different rulesets applied and this can give specific cards an advantage depending on how you use them. In this post, I talk about a great battle that I had with Captain Fellblade.

Featured cards

Captain Fellblade is a water splinter that costs 8 mana. It starts off with just the sneak ability. It learns strengthen at level 3. I have this card at level 1 but it is still quite useful with the duo magic and melee attack stats.

Rule set, Battle and Plan

The ruleset this time is Melee Mayhem and Back to Basics. This means that monsters lose their abilities and melee monsters can attack from anywhere. There is also 43 mana and I can choose water, life, or dragon splinter.

I use Keyla Frendul as my summoner for the +1 armor and speed. It comes in helpful as it will at least soak in one hit from my opponent and increase the chance of me attacking before my opponent. My lineup is to use a bunch of melee monsters with Captain Fellblade as the last monster. In the off chance that my opponent has a high armor but low health monster, the magic damage can kill it. Another monster that I use to fill up my mana is Halfing Refugee and his negative skill won't take into affect because of the ruleset.

Round 1

At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. My opponent is using mainly melee and ranged monsters and a bunch of my frontmost monsters have a lot of armor. I do have the level advantage so I have a slight advantage in terms of speed too.

Round 3

round 3.png
I lost one monster but my opponent lost 2. At this point, I can't see myself losing due to the speed advantage and the damage that I have compared to my opponent.

I was able to win the match a few rounds later like I expected and I only lost one more monster during that time span.

Conclusion

The battle this time played out as expected. I took advantage of the ruleset to play a bunch of melee monsters as their stats tend to be better and Captain Fellblade was a good damage dealer in the back. It's too bad that there weren't any low health monsters on my opponent's side but the damage output worked out in my favor. The level and speed advantages helped me wipe out my opponent before he could do much damage to me. Using the rulesets to your advantage can help you win fights.

You can see my entire match here.

What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
