Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we discuss the use of some tactical summoners.
Featured summoner
Avina of the Wolf is a life summoner that costs 5 mana. This summoner will give one monster +2 speed or the heal ability. I have this summoner at level 2. This summoner can be useful depending on the monster you use to buff. I think the healing ability is more useful than the speed but you can always pick the better choice after the match starts. By combining it with other monsters that heal or reduce damage, you can create a powerful lineup.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Target Practice and Wands Out. This means that only magic monsters can be used and every monster gains the snipe ability. There is also 41 mana and I can choose life or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Avina of the Wolf | 5 | Summoner | +2 speed or heal |
Djinn Renova | 7 | 1st | Strengthen |
Time Mage | 4 | 2nd | Slow |
Meriput Magician | 5 | 3rd | Tank Heal |
Spirit Hoarder | 3 | 4th | Triage |
Olivia of the Brook | 6 | 5th | Opportunity |
Iziar | 11 | 6th | Taunt and Void |
Total Mana: | 41 |
My tank is Djinn Renova in the first spot with strengthen to buff up my monsters. Then I have Time Mage to slow my opponent. Meriput Magician helps heal my tank with tank heal. Then I have Spirit Hoarder with Triage for my taunt monster later on. My 5th monster is Olivia because it has magic and melee damage to help deal damage. My last monster is Iziar with void and taunt. With the heal from Avina and triage, Iziar will be able to heal 8 health per turn and all magic damage is halved.
Round 1
At first glance, I think the advantage is that my opponent my opponent doesn't have many monsters that can deal damage to Izar. The triage plus heal will keep it alive while tank heal will keep my tank alive too.
Round 3
I sped up to round 4 because my opponent couldn't do much and my lineup hasn't taken much damage due to all the heals. At this point, I have this match won because my opponent can't deal enough damage to kill any of my monsters.
I was able to win the match a few rounds later.
Conclusion
The battle this time played out as expected. Aliva did a great job of keeping my tank monster alive and I also had triage to help me on that end as well. My frontmost tank was in no danger due to tank heal. Combining all the healing abilities and the void taunt tank worked out amazing in this match. There just wasn't much that my opponent could do when most of the monsters could not go through the reduced magic damage on my taunt monster.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
