Every week there is a Splinterlands challenge that can be found in this week's post. I also encourage Splinterlands players to partake in the challenge because they get to learn about the game. In this week's challenge, we discuss some card strategies to help people win more fights.
Featured cards
Possibilus the Wise is a life summoner that costs 6 mana. This summoner gives +2 health, trample, and reach. I have this summoner at level 2. It's a great summoner due to the abilities on this card. It increases the damage that my melee damage can do.
Coastal Sentry is a life splinter that costs 10 mana. It starts off with just the double strike ability. It learns piercing at level 6 and knock out at level 10. I have this card at level 8 but my summoner isn't high enough level so I usually play this card at level 5. I use this card quite often when combined with Possibilus because it can attack from the second spot.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Stampede and FiveAlive. This means that any monsters with trample continue until they fail to kill a monster and only 5 monsters can be used. There is also 53 mana and I can choose fire, water, death, or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Possibilus the Wise | 6 | Summoner | +2 health, trample and reach |
Mantaroth | 11 | 1st | Shield and Armored Strike |
Coastal Sentry | 10 | 2nd | Double Strike |
Baakjira | 6 | 3rd | Slow, Strengthen and Void |
Daarg Deadblast | 7 | 4th | Swiftness and Weapons Training |
Noa the Just | 5 | 5th | Rust |
Total Mana: | 45 |
My tank is Mantaroth because of the shield ability. Then I have Coastal Sentry attacking from the second spot. After that are some support monsters that add swiftness, rust, and slow. All of these three abilities help my monsters move faster and it also removes some armor so that my melee monsters can get their damage in. The 4th monster is a weapons training monster to add magic damage to my support monsters.
Round 1
At first glance, I think the advantage is that my opponent doesn't have many monsters that can attack. The damage that I have on my end is a lot more than my opponent.
Round 3
I took out two monsters with minimal damage. The magic blast damage did hurt my lineup a bit, but I am not in any danger as it is. At this point, I have this match won unless I miss too many attacks, but I don't think that will happen due to the speed advantage.
I was able to win the match a round later.
Conclusion
The battle this time played out as expected. Combining Possibilius and Coastal Sentry in this stampede ruleset helped to increase my damage by quite a bit. The support monsters increased the chances of my melee monsters not missing attacks and I could slowly destroy my opponent with all the damage that I outputted. In this match alone, Coastal Sentry accounted for nearly half of my damage per turn.
You can see my entire match here.
What did you think of my match? Was there anything you would have done differently? I think it is quite interesting to see how different players use the same card.
