Splinterlands is a pretty complicated game and there are some interesting battles with all the options available. This is a part of the weekly social media challenge for Splinterlands. For this week, I chose a great battle where I took advantage of Possibilus and Coastal Sentry to win a match.
Featured cards
Coastal Sentry is an water splinter that costs 10 mana. It has the ability double strike at the very first level. It learns piercing at level 6 and knock out at level 10. I do have this monster at level 8 because I bought some cards when this reward card was near the DEC burn rate, but I am limited by my summoners.
Rule set, Battle and Plan
The ruleset this time is Standard. This means that there are no extra modifiers to the fight. There are 99 mana available and I am left with the choice of water, life, or dragon splinter.
Splinter | Mana Cost | Position | Reason |
---|---|---|---|
Possibilus the Wise | 6 | Summoner | +2 Health, Reach and Trample |
Diemonshark | 8 | 1st | Enrage |
Coastal Sentry | 10 | 2nd | Double Strike |
Baakjira | 6 | 3rd | Void, Slow and Strengthen |
Daarg Deadblast | 7 | 4th | Weapons Training and Swiftness |
Noa the Just | 5 | 5th | Rust |
Runemancer Kye | 11 | 6th | Flying and Life Leech |
Total Mana: | 53 |
I used Possibilus the Wise my summoner for -1 health, trample and reach. My first monster is Diemonshark because it has the enrage as my tank. Then I have Coastal Sentry for the damage as it can attack due to my summoner. Baakjira has void, slow, and strengthen so it works well as a backup tank. I have Daarg Deadblast for the weapons training and swiftness. After that is Noa for the rust ability. Baakjira and Noa will have magic damage due to Daarg. Then I have Runemancer Kye in the last spot with flying and life leech in the last spot to deal with any sneak monsters.
Round 1
At first glance, I think that I have the advantage. My opponent may have a lot of magic monsters but my melee damage is quite high. If I can make my way through the first two magic monsters, then the rest of the fight will be easy. It will depend on how often I miss because that taunt monster will attract all my magic damage.
Round 2
My Diemonshark took quite a bit of damage but the enrage took effect. So I think it's less likely after I got rid of the fast magic monster. I still have a large advantage over my opponent due to the speed difference.
Round 3
I didn't lose a single monster because I didn't miss any attacks. The melee damage combined with trample just wiped out my opponent. My opponent is down to 1 monster and it can't attack so this match is my win.
I ended up winning the match later that round.
Conclusion
The battle this time around went as I expected. The combination of Possibilus and Coastal Sentry is deadly due to the reach and trample ability. My support monsters were also a key factor in this win because it made it so that my opponent couldn't get the armor boost from his summoner and it added an additional speed difference between me and my opponent. This let me win the match with relative ease.
