Oh, Deer, Oh, Deer! | Nara Park, Japan

in #hive-16377214 days ago

HELLO!🦌

One of my Japan trip highlights was going to Nara Park. 😍

When I was making our trip itinerary, this was the most recommended tourist spot to visit. The train ride was easy, as the station was just a few minutes walk away from the park itself.

Aside from the herd of deer in the main park, Nara Park also has museums and shrines to visit. 🥳 They had this map for tourist information. It was too big for me to get around so just be spontaneous. 😁

Nara Park Map 😊

A monument about the history of Nara.

narapark31.jpg

I would love to read it but it seemed that it was off-limit to get near to it.

narapark17.jpg
A spot to park bicycles.

A friendly reminder to protect the herd. The animals have been here for thousands of years already, and so they are considered cultural properties. 💕🦌

narapark4.jpg

Ahh~ they were so magical to look at! 😍I want them to pet them so bad but I was totally scared to get bitten or attacked, haha.😆

It was a bit hot at that time so the herd was just in the cool spot in the part.

narapark5.jpg

I have seen a deer before but Nara’s were different. I noticed that they have white spots and fuzzy antlers. I wonder how it felt like touching those white fuzz. 😌

narapark6.jpg

The lady carefully petted the deer on the head. At first, she was hesitant to even get near to the animal, but then she managed to get familiarized with the deer’s energy. I think deer needed familiarity first before letting anyone get near. 😁

narapark9.jpg

Here comes the king! 🦌👑

narapark111.png

Honestly, I do not know the difference between male and female deer, haha.😆 This deer was giving the aura of a king with its antlers. 😤

I was on the side taking the best photos but was afraid to startle or even get the attention of the deer. Getting bitten by a deer was the last thing in my head for this trip, haha.

narapark101.png

Look at those tiny hooves! Should I name her Bambi? 🥺💕

narapark121.jpg

This is my first time feeding a deer with the shika senbei (deer crackers) it was the only food allowed to be fed to the herd.

Back at the entrance, anyone caught feeding the herd other than the shake sense will be fined.

narapark131.png

As soon as the deer bit the crackers, immediately let go of the cracker as I fear getting bitten. 😆 Holy deer, that was the closest! But yeah it was just all in my head, really.

This lady sells shika senbei. The shika senbei comes in 5 pieces for about $2 per pack. 🦌🍘

narapark25.jpg

I think half of the herd was already full as some crackers were on the ground obviously untouched.

Some tourists picked the crackers up trying to feed the deer but got rejected. Petting was allowed as long as it was gentle.

On sight, there was a pavilion for I believe just for the herd. It was equipped with a mist sprinkle to withstand the heat.

It was not even the peak of the day, but I was sweating balls already.

Same as the other tourists, I took the advantage to take some tight shots of the deer.

narapark18.jpg

narapark191.png

A little rant. 😆 I was annoyed by this tourist one time because he kept explicitly blocking the way of the deer just to get the perfect photo.

narapark201.jpg
The herd was supposed to cross the road connecting to the other part of the park. It was disappointing that the tourist did not probably know that these creatures were protected by the locals.

narapark221.jpg
For sure moments like that are rare and most of the time people are respectful of the deer. I am sure that the tourist did not mean any harm to the animals.

narapark24.jpg

We got to the end of the park where the herd hung out, and so to took a break on a bend and had some cold Pocari Sweat. Pocari sweat in Japan tastes different, I swear! 😁😜

narapark23.jpg

Or was I just super thirsty at the time, haha. But I really liked it! I was so happy to see the Nara Park and the deer up close. Thank God that they were behaved and friendly- as long as you treat them kindly. 😍

narapark16.png

While I was sipping my new favorite drink, I just did some sight seeing and gave a bit of rest to my feet. Next, I was heading to the shrine inside the park, but I will share that in my next blog. 💕😊

Thanks for reading!

That is it for this blog. I will see you at the next one!

Wow! Deers are just walking around with the tourist? It was my first time seeing as usually they are cage or just in the certain area with fence.

They are too pretty , hmm is it here where Santa get raindeers?

Yes, they were gentle as long as you don't startle them. 😁 For me I kept my distance just in case hahah😆
