I just realized that it is Summertime on the opposite side of the Earth. While you guys enjoy the sun and warmth, we in the east are experiencing rainy days. As for me, I like rainy weather because Summer here is annoying and exhausting. 😆 The sound of rain relaxes me and makes me more creative. The rainy days start in June and end around September. I will enjoy the cold breeze while it's here. 😌
Art Process
Originally, I want the character to be short-haired, but I think it is better if the hair is flowy~ The head is a bit tilted up, so the ears are below the eye level. The blouse is loose so I added more thin lines on it to show the flow of the clothing. Later on, I will add the sunflower patterns using a downloaded brush. The setting is Summertime so it is ideal to have daylight sky and white fluffy clouds as background.
I used a grayish black for the hair and then a less saturated yellow color for the clothing. I accidentally mixed the blush with the base layer of the skin. 😆 I have to tone the blush a bit so that it will not look like rashes. 🤣 For the background, I used the default gradient color of midday on the bucket tool. On another layer on top, I used a cloud brush to put random clouds and blur some parts. Added some three birds for extra detail. The sunflower is a brush downloaded from the asset store. I think this is free, so I just downloaded it away. Yes, for free stuff! 😆
Added the shadows on the skin and clothing assuming the light source is from the upper right. I shaded a darker shade of gray for the inner part of the hair. I added hair strands and blur some for some depths. I also fix the top of the head a less pointy.
Final Art
I added some glow to the hair, nose, and lips. Noticed that I erased and polished the lineart. Using liquify, I fixed the ears' size. The last layer on top is putting the little orb halos.
