Yassss, I am late for this week. š I blame two people for this, haha! I was supposed to finish this last night but I almost forgot that we have a scheduled game. Minutes before the game started, I saw a notif from @Takuri. AHA! He posted his entry already, nice nice. Now he can play all night, while I still had a pending art to finish. š¤£ It was a nice game called Don't Starve Together. I am yet to finish watching a 1-hour+ tutorial on YouTube. We wanna survive after Winter, that is the goal! š„
For this week's entry. I chose Possessed Puppet. š
Sketch
Errr, sorry for the messy sketch. š It is just scribbles of guide lines. I changed a lot of positions and angles that is why, haha! I also had a reference for Pinterest for the hand and knife position. I used a size 3 pencil for the line art. I first did the left eye. I separated the sclera, pupil, and iris in different folders. I really like long lashes, especially for female characters. For the braided hair, I just drew a heart shape and then drew a line in between.
Coloring!
What I always do is color-pick the colors from the original card. I just adjust the brightness and saturation of the color to match the overall art. I did not make the bow ribbon, instead just laces. Because why? It is easier. š¤£ And also, later on, it will be over shadowed. I finished first the shadows on the face, cracked mask, and neck. The cracks are just added details but not on the card.
More shadowings on the clothing and the hands. I was contemplating if I should add the nails because since this is a puppet, it is necessary, but yeah, added them anyway. I really like how the knife turns out. I added the yellow buttons, just copy-pasted one. I did not add the ruffles on the shoulders here because I honestly forgot! Or am I just not being attentive to details? It is a combo. š
Okay, the blood is a bit dramatic, but yeah, it is a possessed puppet after all, haha. I do not like porcelain dolls, by the way. š„² They are creepy, especially the eyes and skin. Anyway~ I chose a rough textured brush for the blood and blend and blur them. Also, used a blood stain brush. I put them on the knife, hands, mouth, and clothing. I put a cyan glow on the edges and on the background. Also, a glowy shine of yellow on the eye.
Final Art
I like the overall art to be darker and more creepy, so I added another layer on top and airbrushed black. I put it on the top and bottom especially. I blurred out a bit just to soften the lines. I really like the eyes and the mask, hehe. Hopefully, I am still in on this week's contest! š
