For this week, I chose Tide Biter!
Art Process
This character looked like a prince villain in the undersea. 😁 Or perhaps a sea creature looking for an avenge. What caught me was the barnacles on the skin. I thought, hmmmm... when was the last time I saw barnacles? 😃 I can't even remember! But I often saw them attached to big rocks.
For this card, I opted for a portrait. I first used a blue pen and then traced it with a pencil-textured brush.
I used a color-pick tool to copy the color for the base. I first worked on the eyes to set the expression. I began rendering the cloth and boy, it was hard! I kept working on it until I could see "folds" on the clothing.
Next is the skin. The skin is more difficult for me as I want to show the Adam's apple and the collarbone. So, I used a flat brush with a fading tip and a blur and blend brush to soften hard edges. I added the shine of the eyes using a white cell shadig brush.
Final Art
The final stage is making the background. I chose a simple gradient blue sky and some clouds. I used a special brush to create the clouds and put some bokeh lights. I masked the whole canvas with a texture.
Finished art! ✨
