Update from our Cassava Farm

Greetings guys,

I hope you’ve had a great and an amazing weekend. It’s been a while I’ve posted here. Which is mostly because most of our farming activities were done and we were just waiting for the rains to start so that we can also start planting for this year. I remember some time back in this community I made a post about our plan to bury and plant cassava seedlings for this year. You can do a quick recap by clicking here.

Today I want to give you guys a quick update on how the farm is doing, as usual I visited the farm over the weekends with my uncle to do a quick check up on the cassava plants. It is very important you regularly check up on them because most at times animals goes into the farms and destroy them. If it isn’t animals then maybe some insects starts to eat up the leaves. So it’s very necessary you do a check up on daily basis.

When we arrived at the farm, the cassava looked fine all the leaves were fresh. Which is a very good sign, the only problem was some of the support (sticks) we erected up started to fall. So we had to pick them back up and fix them so that they stand firm into the ground.

We moved further around the farm and noticed, animals precisely cows, had entered and destroyed a nearby farm. And started to enter into our own cassava farm. They had successfully destroyed some part of it.

My uncle told me we needed to be on our toes because they weren’t going to stop there. So we spent a few hours at the farm just to see if they would show up. But they didn’t.

We will keep doing regular check ups on the farm to ensure that our cassava isn’t damaged by the cows. I felt I needed to update you guys after this while. I hope to hear from you and see you on the next one.
