My foremost relaxation spot in #socialFi was WhatsApp, and you can call me a #memelord as my WhatsApp status is mostly flooded with memes that would make one laugh and ultimately relax. My hobby for uploading memes started just around the COVID-19 period when I realized the mental torture viewers and the populace at large were exposed to from the devastating and scary news often flying about. Recently, Nigeria has also had news ranging from kidnappings, fire outbreaks, accidents, deaths, an unfavorable economic crisis, etc., coupled with the hardships faced in the country.
Thus, beyond laughing alone, my consistency in uploading my status with memes has ascribed me the title of a meme lord. Recently, since I have been busy and also short on data, I have had a few people check on me privately in my DM to inquire about my well-being, a concern to show they have not been seeing my WhatsApp status with jokes and memes. My main reason for uploading such memes is so that people can watch and laugh off the troubles they may have had during the day. Many people have commended me for always feeding them memes and jokes that help them laugh and relax.
But then, we have X, which is like a field with many strangers. The X (formerly known as Twitter) space is a wild zone, one where strangers become friends and maybe enemies also emerge. The X space remains a common ground for all people to meet and interact, and recently it has become a #socialFi where users have started to earn from it. X was banned in Nigeria a few years ago as it was seen as a tool to propagate falsehoods or perhaps wrong and misleading information. The populace opted for the use of VPNs, which helped most people stay on X. X is a whole lot of vibe. There are many crazy people on X, and you may think you have dropped words of wisdom, only to be countered and rubbished. As much as I love to stay informed, as it gives me forehand updates, I am careful not to step on the wrong toes. But when there are issues that I need to counter in a civil manner, I do that nonetheless and carefully.
#inleo threads has recently ushered in a similar trend where users can interact and engage, a platform to scroll and engage with users (known and unknown) as a form of relaxation. Unlike X, which has rewards limited to influencers and maybe blue tickets, #inleo offers token rewards for engaging and using the platform—my perfect definition of a #socialFi where I earn as much as I learn.
My digital assets have gone beyond #socialFi and extended to #gameFi where games such as Splinterland keep users busy. One #GameFi I am anticipating mostly is #holozing as it promises to be exhilarating and also rewarding. Having phones and gadgets with wide storage devices and a lasting battery is a goal for gaming and socializing. I remember playing the 2048 Blast game for a 6-hour stretch, getting addicted to solving challenges at each level and proceeding to the next.
The monthly #inleo monthly and daily prompts have begun for the month of June, and you can participate HERE
