I don't really think I should advertise this project, since I don't really know how does it work. We all heard that your computing power is in demand, but I have never thought an unused internet bandwidth might be in someone's interest. They claim that manufacturers of IoT devices often use your Internet without you even knowing it.
Grass.io operates as a decentralized network that allows users to sell their idle internet bandwidth, transforming public web data into AI datasets ensuring user privacy by not collecting any personal data such as browsing history or emails - this is difficult to verify from my point of view.
Ensuring...or claiming. Can't really tell for sure. Nevertheless in hope that I will not participate in botnet, I decided to try it out. The reasoning behind it was that I have my PCs turned on for long hours writing text documents, which does not require heavy Internet bandwidth. Of course, I would not leave my computers on for "mining" (as the electricity cost would outweigh expected proceeds), but since they're turned on, why not to kill two birds with one stone.
Also, its the project's token Grass on Solana network has greater marketcap than Hive and their twitter account has over 500k followers. It didn't seem to be a no-name rug pull project.
As far as I understand for running their app on your PC you earn points that after the Epoch's ending will be exchanged for grass token. The current epoch ends on 17th January, which means I will not have to wait long to see if it's worth the hustle.
I strongly encourage you guys yo check my previous posts about using crypto as power bank and this post is an attempt to explore solutions that could help me address the issue of temporary power overproduction, which will arise after connecting my newly built house to the power grid. Since, I might use a PC that would use up little energy, it may mine enough grass to partially cover my power bill in winter months.
