Just as the caption says, still going at it! It has been 11 days since my last update, and how does time fly when your having fun. For me, I love being able to go, and check in my garden at break time. It sure as hell beats a cigarette. The weather has been text book Salinas Valley weather, and all I have to do is make sure these plants have water, and food.
Having a few products that wasn't working out so well for me indoors is really coming in handy outdoors. I just could not get it right with this line of fertilizer with container plants(cannabis). But with the plants being in the ground, this stuff is making my melons, corn, tomatoes, and peppers very happy. Let's take a look at what I have going on....
Beefsteak Tomato
I know I said I was going to cage it, but since it is something I have to go the store to get, I have not really thought about it much. I do have steaks at home that I will use to prop up the branches for when it fruits.
This plant really needed a good Lolipop! Yes same thing that I do with my cannabis, applies to other plants as well.
With a little cleaning up, and once I get the braches propped up on the steaks, I should have some nice Beefsteaks ;)
Glass Corn
The corn really has blew up! I have been doing a little research on this varietal, and it used to be rare. I suppose in some aspects it still is since it really isn't a mass produced commodity. It is not sweet, and is mainly used to make Corn Flour. But I also read it makes for great popping corn, which I can really get down with. Then other then that, it is just a beautiful thing to look at. So it should make for great click bait once it is ready. ;)
Even with most of the corn doing well, there is one runt out of the bunch. I am hoping it makes the best looking corn ear out of the bunch, just to prove itself.
Watermelons
In beast mode! These things just wont stop growing. In fact I have to get in here just to cut shoots. They are going in every direction. Even trying to wrap themselves around the other plants in the garden.
So ironic that these seedlings started in the compost, and now it is making it's way back to help itself out in the future. The circle of life is no joke folks!
The peppers are still doing shitty though. Better, but that is not saying much. I am sure it is the soil. One does seem to be lockout, which perhaps it is just me. But I will let them sit, and do whatever it is they are going to do. Maybe if I am lucky I can have a pepper one day with a burrito.
The project I have going on the side of the property, strictly for our pleasure is going 100% according to plan. That is if the corn stalks ever reach their stride.
Here are some new flowers that pop up at this time of year. That poppy is not new, but it is one of the biggest California Poppy flowers I have ever seen! I really love the wildflowers here. It is one of the great things about living here. Minus the high cost of living, outrageous gas prices, high crime, this state is a gem. LOL Well that is all for this update. I am sure I will have something fun to show you next time. Until then, have a great rest of your week everyone!
