Contenting On Hive: Niche VS Value

in #hive-1679222 months ago

When I first joined the chain, there were some people who believed that the only content that added value to the hive was writing SEO-related content. They believed they were the best content creators on the Chain, which is why they were rewarded the most.

However, they were not entirely correct. For starters, I did not particularly enjoy reading their content; they created content for the Hive algorithm and made some powerful orca and whale connections, but their content did not really appeal to the general audience.

That is, if you were a new user, you were more likely to follow them because of their connections rather than because they created content that you liked. That is fine; many people click "follow" because they want to expand their network and gain more support for their content; we have all done it at some point.

In reality, techie content and discussions about technical aspects of technology have not been my strong suit. When I first started on Hive, I read posts from people who mostly created content about the chain, not because I enjoyed it, but because I wanted to learn.

As a result, the need to learn can sometimes take precedence over the desire to consume for enjoyment. Learning is not always enjoyable or easy, so those who educated people about the chain received a lot of attention and support for their content, which was deemed valuable by the general public.

Fast forward to today, and I have learned how to create crypto content simply because I learned how. I was fascinated by the way the market worked. Learning about cryptocurrency is not easy, but if you want to earn money with it, you must first understand the dynamics.

Now, I am still a complete rookie when it comes to understanding the market, but over the years I have learned how to study history, read a lot from popular crypto creators, and formed my own mind.

Because I want to make a decent living for myself, I have been forced to learn about cryptocurrency, and I now find it fascinating to teach others what I have learned.

Crypto is enjoyable; learning how it works is even better. Many people claim that Hive is too difficult to understand, but I believe that people learn when they want to learn, and Hive may not be for everyone, including Tom, Dick, and Harry.

Now let us get back to creating.

It is incorrect to say that people who create content about their daily lives add no value. This is why Hive has expanded into communities. There are people I follow who have no idea about tech. They create random content about their lives, which I enjoy reading.

Most of them, I make it a daily habit to search for their content because I admire their uniqueness, ability to make themselves the focal point of their content, and how they present it, and I believe this is true for almost everyone out there.

Now, my favorite creators are those who can create almost anything. You already know that when you click, you are in for a treat.

However, because of the way Hive's curation system works, it is difficult to give your favorite creators the recognition they deserve, unless you are a decent-sized orca or whale, and there is no ninja-mined account to blame.

To cut your teeth and establish yourself on Hive, you must be more than just a niche creator, which is why the value of a piece of content does not define the other values. It is not black and white. It is complicated, and unless you take them to learn the dynamics, it could simply be difficult.

For example, creating but then dumping 100% of that reward on the market will make it difficult for you to expand. You could be the best creator, but it would not work because real people are involved in curation, and the majority of curators want you to be vested in the same way that they are. This is because Hive remains relatively small and not as large.

When there are large investors, it may be difficult to focus on these issues. However, Hive's small size is not entirely negative; with the right decision and time, Hive will grow significantly. Some of the reasons why people are frightened by how the DHF bleeds money without bringing in value is because they're only so much negative expensive Hive can take without experiencing consequences.

So, people who call themselves "value bringers" have mastered Hive in all aspects, which is why they will continue to thrive. They understand the politics, the game, how to grow, how to channel their content and how to bring more eyes to their accounts.

However, don't be discouraged, your content is not the problem, most people enjoy mundane content, you just need to learn and understand the dynamics of Hive..

I have captured this part I just need to learn and understand the dynamic of the Hive.

The first part of your writing happened to me when I joined Hive newly. Some of the content I read wasn't appealing to me; it was annoying, especially when it had to do with cryptocurrency. But as I kept reading, I got to understand what cryptocurrency is all about.

We just need to learn and understand the platform to be able to bring big eyes.

I have learned a lot from your content in the simplicity of words. Thank you for sharing.

I want to ask, apart from creating valuable content in the niche community, what else could be done on Hive to have those eyes, like curators?

Thanks for reading. There's no one way to approach Hive, every individual approaches Hive in their own unique way, but like I said, it's a dynamic chain, and sometimes seeking for big curators doesn't always work, sometimes it works, sometimes it won't.
But one thing that usually work is finding like-minded people and enjoying the whole process while learning at the same time..

There's no quick way. It's a slow process, only the patient eventually last

Thank you very much.

Sometimes I believe that the DApps don´t want bring value to Hive. Why @peakd, @ecency, @liketu, @keychain does not include some ads on the UIs? They can charge directly $HBD or use ads systems like Adsense, the money they earn by that is money that they don´t need to ask to the DHF or is Hive that they don´t will be dropping in CEXs for FIAT.

I have always wanted ads too, at least they'll bring back some revenue, but unfortunately I think it's complicated and there's no one way to approach that topic.. Also Leofinance has tried it and it hasn't worked, maybe that's why no one is so keen on it..

Well, Leofinance is Trying ti bring it Back again. But maybe they haveto advertise them as a social network and not as a crypto web3 plataform

I would be lying to say I know what's best, but I know that when done in a wise way, bringing ads to the hive ends would work. I'd wait to see how Leofinance would implement it again

Not sure why you're tagging, but since you did, I will entertain!

We have a net long position on Hive which we purchased with our own money and have never asked for anything from the DHF.

We have reduced our position from our original allocation in light of market volatility risk, but it is only to build a hedging/larger position, of which, we are still overwhelmingly net long.

Advertising vendors do not tend to work with crypto platforms. They often need a certain level of KYC compliance which we simply cannot comply with. Also, none of our platforms are at a scale which would interest the most popular/best ad vendors.

Trying to monetize when you have less than 10k users on any given platform yields quite little return, especially given the demographic matters too. Most ad vendors bid the highest on users from western countries, but the largest part of Hive traffic are from LATAM countries.

I think he's only asking from a place of genuinety and nothing malicious. You've put it rightly, and just like I told him, it's quite a complicated issue as well.
As for the DHF, I'm sure if liketu shoots for funding, it'll get it.

Very true, many people enjoy the mundane content of the world which I as a general rule find tediously boring. It's probably why I hate reality TV programs as well. I've have yet to master the art of drawing huge audiences, and I have watched others accounts that do well. In the end I just do what I feel like, and that means some days I do nothing at all.

Those new to Hive really need to join new communities to grow, I know it's something I need to work on and I've been doing this for a year and a half. It's hard work, but it does pay off.

Great post as always!

I use to join a lot of initiative back in the day, I find it very passionate, because I generally love to meet people and talk. However, over the years, I've stopped, I've focused more on writing about crypto and meeting other people on-chain would would help my crypto know grow.
I also think I really don't like the community thing anymore because of personal life issues and I just don't enjoy talking to people anymore as I used to do in the past, I think people just become something different, the more time they spend.

You're doing well yourself, I think the communities on discord isn't what they use to be. Most people just want big curation from big accounts and there's no genuinety anymore.

I just stick with material that doesn't require sharing a lot of personal stuff. In the past I tried the same, but now I just kind of do what I want. A lot of times I'm just too tired to invest my energy into people's drama. The people I meet now I genuinely like so I talk to them. I don't spend much time on Discord now except for messaging. A lot of work that I could be putting into creating some content.

I think everyone is different. SEO content is catered towards people using Google or search engines. It doesn't cater towards the average user unless there is some other attractive thing about it. I agree that people should just be who they are.

I agree as well. I think there were people who are experts at doing it, and they're fairly rewarded for it, so I think everyone won't do the same thing, it's a multidimensional chain.

I used to feel that the type of content doesn't matter, but as long as your HP is high, you'd always get upvoted.
With your post, one just have to be fully involved to be able to thrive on Hive
