I was scrolling through Twitter yesterday, looking for an airdop that might be worth it, and I came across one. It is a sociaFI project, and after reviewing it, I decided not to participate.
The reason for this is that I had to really start tweeting to score points for myself and create content for this project, and unless I get paid $5k USD at the end of the farming (which is unlikely), I do not think it is worth it.
Although I am passionate about creating, I do not believe Twitter is the best place for it. Second, most people are likely involved in this project for financial reasons, and I do not see myself littering my Twitter account with junk about a project that is unlikely to be as transparent or decentralized.
Third, I have not been creating much on web2, and in the last month, I have deleted over 200 Instagram posts, with the exception of three. I have deleted and hidden a lot of content from my Facebook account, and I would have locked my profile as well, but that option is not available to Nigerians.
Web2 is officially over for me, and the only reason I have not deleted my accounts on these platforms is that I am leaving them for record. My Facebook account is probably the oldest, and it is difficult to delete things dating back to when I was 17.
In terms of Twitter, I find it useful for crypto education and airdrop information; I have also been following and consuming content from a few Christian/Bible accounts. What I am trying to say is that I am not excited about sharing information or details about my life again. This will undoubtedly be impossible for someone who creates content about my life.
For example, I discuss my financial decisions a lot on Hive, but I can not do so anywhere else. Most of the things I can not discuss with anyone in the real world, I do here because the privacy is good. In fact, most people who know me here are more familiar with me than some of my real-life relationships.
I am sure this is true for many people who frequently blog about their lives and personal experiences.
Hive Is Home
Some people have adopted Hive as their mini-home, a social space where they can easily find closure in people who are more than acquaintances to them. I had this with a lot of people I used to know, and unless you meet them in person, it ends there. However, events such as HIVEFEST bring people together.
You get to know people by looking them in the eyes rather than guessing who they are based on how they write. However, without events like this, the relationship is solely based on what you have here, which can be restrictive.
90% of the creators I follow have revealed a lot of important information about themselves, but without a face (about 50%), it is impossible to connect this information to them.
For me, I do not mind putting my face out there, but after a while, I believe all I can do is limit the information I share here.
This means I can not create as I would like, but it is due to a number of personal changes in my life. For example, I am practically non-existent on Whatsapp, which is the polar opposite of how I used to be. At this point in my life, I want to limit my access to people on web2.
As for Hive, I would like to make it as official as possible.
This isn't sterility
Of course, that does not mean I will not keep my acquaintances close; I will. I just want to cut off so many things, people, experiences, and content that require me to be extremely sensitive. I create a lot of crypto content and enjoy it; perhaps it is time to limit my content to crypto.
I guess by doing this, I will give myself time to deal with my internal issues. I would say that I do not like soulless contents. Some people's content lacks that authentic feel. I do not want to be like this, and I do not want to give off as much as I used to.
