The last splinterlands season was a good one. I met my goal of 40k glints and went on to earn up to 43.4k Glint. I earned more SPS because I believe I played with more gold cards than two seasons ago. It was not intentional; I simply believe that my strategy included using my gold level 2 Possibilius the wise frequently throughout the season.
However, I was unable to finish in Gold 1, which would have been the highlight of the season for me. Earning more Glint also resulted in more SPS due to the use of gold cards.
I pretty much have the same amount of staked SPS because I have not purchased any in a long time. SPS is the real deal for earning more SPS and Glints. You are better off renting or purchasing more SPS, which will allow you to buy more powerful soulbound cards.
The shop now has the option to buy even gold foil of any cards you want, and this allows you to have more SPS rewards (which are the only rewards with dollar value).
SPS Business 4 months ago
If you purchased SPS 4 to 5 months ago when it was at an all-time low, you should be in a massive profit by now. I did make a purchase during that time period, but it was insufficient.
I am sure the amount of SPS I bought back then was not more than $20, but they should now be worth close to $40, which I believe is a lot.
Imagine slapping 200$ back then into SPS, it would have been one decent sum for me, but I didn't have the funds, secondly, it was a falling knife, and many people were FUDing it back then, so what I used back then was dispensable.
EPIC soulbound cards
Now, back to the end of the season. My goal was to buy as many epic cards as possible. Why? I was one card away from getting Olivia to level 2, and I promised myself that I would get up to 8 epic SB cards and that I would keep shopping until I ran out of Glints, unless I could get one more copy of Olivia to level 2.
Level 2 Olivia Of The Brook
However, luck smiled on me, and the first four EPIC SB cards I received included one BCX of Olivia, and you can imagine my delight when I finally got it.
I was determined to have Olivia with a mimic ability 🧠 for the next season. So I decided to put it to the test. To be honest, I lost the first two games I used it in because I was too eager to use it and lacked the proper strategy.
The mimic ability is similar to using the opponent's strategy against them, but sometimes you need a solid strategy so that Olivia can mirror all of your opponent's abilities and destroy them.
However, after taking a few hours off, I tried it with a better strategy, and my mind was blown away. It is an ability thief, the true Robin Hood of cards. My opponent had no idea what was coming, and I virtually destroyed everyone I played against.
So that was the pinnacle of my season. Of course, winning means more SPS, and I am curious to see how this new ability in my life splinterlands will help me this season.
Common & Rare Cards
I purchased other common and rare cards from the store, but I am only going to discuss my epic cards because this is the section that seems to pique my interest. I already have some common and rare cards at level 5 and 3, but no legendary cards.
Contrary to my previous belief, there are legendary cards with some great abilities, but you need to have them at levels 2, 3, and 4 to unlock these abilities, and given that one legendary BCX costs 35k Glint, I would rather not go there right now.
Gladius Cards.
I bought and opened about four Gladius cards and received one legendary card. The dragon splinter, Larissa Kerato.
I can play this in all elements as long as I have a dragon summoner, and I like the double magic strike. It is the first time I have owned this card; I know other players have it, but it is my first time having it, so it is an interesting addition for me.
So, I am excited to see what the new season has in store.
