Hey Guys, it has been 8 months since I last join any Splinterlands challenge. This is basically my first entry in the Splitnerlands challenge, Battle Mage Secrets featuring Earthquake in the ruleset.
EARTHQUAKE is the ruleset that dealt 2 melee damages at the end of the round to monsters that does not have Flying ability.
Strategy
Fly high Butterfly!!!
The mosts basic strategy to avoid the damage dealt by the Earthquake is to use monsters with Flying ability. Right now, there is only one Summoner that provides the Flying ability to friendly monsters. With Brighton Bloom, you never need to worry about monsters not having the Flying ability. You can focus on your attack strategy without worrying how to defend the damage from the Earthquake.
Snare Trap!!!
This strategy focuses on countering the Flying ability of the monsters. A monster with Snares ability will not miss against monsters with Flying ability. Aside from the 100% hit chance, Snares also removed the effect of Flying ability to the target monster. Meaning those monsters will now take 2 melee damage from the Earthquake.
Vera Salacia is the only Summoner that provides the Snare ability to all friendly monsters.
Don't worry since this strategy can also be countered. A counter to a counter. Cleanse can remove the effect of Snare so its good to have a monster with Cleanse as well if you feel your opponent will use the Snare Trap!
Band-Aid Solution: Shield, Armor, Heal to the Rescue
This is also one of the common strategy if you do not have the Flying monsters or Brighton Bloom summoner.
Protect: All friendly monsters gain 2 armor. The armor will protect you temporarily from the Earthquake, so be sure to survive longer than your enemy to win the match. |
---|
Shield: Reduced damaged from melee and ranged attacks. Since the damage from the Earthquake is considered as melee, having a Shield can reduced the damage of Earthquake to 1. |
---|
Heal : Restore a portion of the monsters health each round. One-way to survive is to have a higher heatlh regeneration than the damage received. |
---|
Repair : Restore some armor to the friendly monster whose armor taken the most damage Similar to the Heal ability which regenerates your health (approximately 1/3 of max HP, round down). The Repair ability regenerates the Armor by 2. This is enough to negate the damage from Earthquake |

My Strategy:
In this battle, both of us selected the Dragon splinter since the Dragon deck has the most cards with Flying ability. Even our line-up is very similar having 4 similar monsters.
I focused on using Flying monsters with the balanced of melee, magic and ranged attack monsters. And for the Summoner, I figured out that there's a higher chance that my opponent will use a heavy magic line-up. (By the way, even if my opponent will not use the magic line-up, I might still go with Sthispa especially in the Gold League since it is level 5. My Quix the Devious is only level 2 which can limit the level of the monsters deployed.
The combination of Flying, Blind and Phase ability allows me to survive the barrage of magic attacks from the enemy.
My opponent on the otherhand uses Quix the Devious as the Summoner to reduced the ranged damage and speed of my monsters. Since most of the monsters my opponent use were Magic attackers, I can simply evade those attacks with the help of Phase ability. The higher speed helps as it allows the monsters attack first but definitely the RNG is on our side. Take note as well that aside from having deployed the same monsters, they have a higher level compare to mine.

Splinterlands is a digital, collectible card game built on blockchain technology. It is similar in concept to games like Magic the Gathering and Hearthstone where you build up a collection of cards, which all have various different stats and abilities, and use them to battle other players in skill-based matches. By using blockchain technology, players can buy, sell, and trade their digital assets freely just as if they were physical cards, and all transactions are recorded publicly and immutably.
