The meteorite

March 1920. The icy wind whipped through the streets of Derry as I made my way to the Wagner home. As a researcher of unexplained phenomena, I had travelled to this remote town to learn of the alleged meteorite impact.

Perhaps I would finally have definitive proof that we are not alone in the universe.

Mrs. Wagner greeted me with a worried face. As she told me, since the fall of the sidereal object, strange occurrences had plagued the family.

Disturbing noises at night, furtive shadows, and even objects that moved on their own.

That same night I was able to corroborate their disturbing experiences. A rumbling shook the house at the stroke of midnight.

We went down to the basement with torches, and there I saw it.... A strange, black, misshapen rock that seemed to glow with a light of its own.

I touched it and discovered that it was almost red-hot. Mrs. Wagner screamed in terror, pointing to the ceiling.

An elongated, undulating shadow was cast there, as if a large, reptilian, reptilian entity was lurking unseen.

We ran upstairs as eerie creaking sounds seemed to come from the meteorite. I clutched my briefcase with the measuring instruments, ready to face the unknown.

At last I would have proof that we were not alone... but perhaps it would have been better never to find it.
