When I was in elementary and high school, I started collecting anything related to anime. This included stickers, otaku magazines, DVDs, manga and the likes though some of my collection are already gone. my items were either misplaced or not returned by classmates who borrowed them from me! 😆
Back in the day, I used to be really into collecting otaku magazines. I had about 4 of them, but my mom only let me buy a few. i get excited with the free poster inside and I hang it on my wall which is still up in my old room ~
Living in a provincial city didn't offer much when it came to anime sources back then. Malls were outdated when it came to selling these things. There was only one specific mall that sold magazines and otaku items, and it was placed along with Winx comics magazine, which were very popular back then. Every time I got the chance, I'd ask my mom to buy them for me.
I was completely obsessed with Pichi Pichi Pitch, also known as Mermaid Melody, back in 2007 when it aired on QTV. Each mermaid had a song to sing, which became my favorite. I was surprised to find this sticker, as it was wild to find some merchandise at a mall in my outdated province, so I bought it the moment I saw it. Although I haven't used it since, it's been sitting on my small table with some other stuff for 15 years.
Well, I was surprised to find this DVD cover when I was gathering all of these anime collections. Most of my anime DVDs have been thrown away, but I remembered why I have this one. I actually use it to hide my hentai CD inside to avoid getting caught. HAHAHAHA!
This was totally a scam, you know why? It said Gundam Seed on the cover, which was the whole reason I bought it. But when I played it, it turned out to be Voltes 5! 😭 It really broke my heart. I didn't return it because I'm too shy. I was worried they wouldn't take it back and that my mom would scold me for buying the wrong one after I kept pestering her for Gundam CDs 😭, anyways, the cd cover was so nice that it was like an album type, that i had to cut this piece because it's too beautiful to be thrown away.
Here are more of my anime collections that I recently bought at a Japan surplus store. They only cost 1 peso each, except for Haro. I bought them thinking I could use them as a reference for drawing.
My favorite items from my anime collection are the ones given to me by @demotry and @wittyzell. These hold the highest sentimental value for me. 😌💖
I've been reflecting on the challenge of the anime realm this month, which has made me think a lot about the times when I was obsessed with anime. Memories from before came rushing back, especially memories of the animes that I haven't finished watching due to the lack of sources back then.
gathering these items and recalling the stories of how I obtained them makes me feel nostalgic. The happiness and warmth I felt back then have come back to me today. 😊
anyways just sharing ~
