Greetings to you all Dear Gardeners! It's another great opportunity to share with you. In my garden, there are a lot of different kinds of crops I'm growing. The cassava are growing in good condition when I visited my garden today. I tried growing maize again to see if they will do well. My observation, the leaves are trying to overshadow the maize plants. Most of the maize plants are growing lean. This had compelled me to prune some of the branches of the cassava from their branches so that it can pave way for the maize plant to grow. Ideally, if you plant cassava for the major season, after harvesting the maize which were inter crop with, it becomes very difficult to plant maize again for the minor season. The cassava become overgrown having their leaves and branches forming canopy.

These cassava were planted late due to the scarcity of the cassava sticks. The rain has been very supportive. From the base of cassava sticks to the shoot now measures 1.5 metres. The most cultural practices to ensure for continuous growth is regular weeding. The weeded materials serve as organic matter for the cassava. When the canopy of the leaves are formed, it suppresses weed growth in the farm, especially if the planting distance is very close. The planting distance should not be too closed as this can lead to poor root tubers formation. The best planting this required is 60cm by 60cm or 70cm by 70cm.

At certain portion of the farm, I decided to inter crop with plantain. It is very difficult for the plantain to thrive since the cassava grow very quickly. So, where plantain farm is carried out, we normally reduce the planting of the cassava. We allow enough space for the cassava plants.

The maizes are now 3 weeks old. I've met challenge with some stubborn weeds. These are some grass type of weeds which are the same family with the maize. Lately, crop protection units have come out with so many weedicides which can control such kind of weeds. One of such weedicides is Nico plus which is selective weedicide which will kill all grass types and leave the maize plants on the field.

I'm waiting for all the based weeds to emerge before applying the weedicide. This will help kill all the weeds. I have to immediately apply my NPK fertilizer as soon as I apply finished applying the weedicides. The reason why I can't apply the fertilizer in the field with the weeds is that, the weeds would turn to uptake the nutrients quickly than the maize. It's always right to weed the field before applying the fertilizer.

I'm really experiencing vegetative growth in my tomatoes farm and I see this isn't the usual thing. The fertilizer I gave to the tomato plants are overdose and moreover, it has been raining too much. Even though, tomato plants need water for growth but not all that too much. This in effects reduce the flowering.

At home, I went to check up my fenced tree flower which I have planted in front of the house. I kept watering when it was very tender. This is the routine activities I had to ensure that it survive.

This is to support protect the environment. Tree flower close to a house serves as wind break especially when there is excessive storm. They also serve ventilation.
