Monkey-B's marble rollercoaster toy is now beloved my Chairwoman Meow because it has all the things to grab a cat's attention.
😼 What Ya Got There? 🎢
Monkey-B's had this marble rollercoaster set for a couple years, but I guess ChairWoman Meow hadn't encountered it yet. Her reaction to the unboxing and setup on this day made it clear it was likely her first time, and I knew right away this would be good Hive content.
The first time she let a marble go, Meow immediately begin twitching her neck like a robot, tracking the marble as it quickly raced through the turns and loops before coming to a quick stop at the end. After a couple times watching Ms. Meow decided to get her paws involved in this activity.
😺 Meow's Got A Better Idea 💡
Quickly the game became Can Meow Derail The Marble Before It Reaches The End? This was more entertaining for all, even more fun than the process of building and testing new rollercoaster ideas. Meow's supreme kitty reflexes probably make the whole world seem as if it's moving in slo-motion, and I guess this is good training for a possible king cobra encounter.
It was so entertaining watching the ChairWoman demonstrate her ability to throw 15 jabs in the span of a single second. On the rare occasions where the marble reached the end she would stare at it, wondering why the fun came to such an abrupt end and trying to whack the marble back into action.
Monkey-B and I enjoyed some free entertainment at Meow's expense, and in turn she got so wound up she went outside and dispatched a few butterflies. I guess the marble rollercoaster just didn't have the same finality as live prey, so we watched Meow quickly dash out to her hunting grounds.
🦋 Butterfly Dreams 🦋
I work from home, and Meow doesn't like to hunt far from home, so I'm pretty aware of what her diet is. She loves hunting butterflies the most, I think because the colors confuse her when they take flight and try to escape, often confusing her and resulting in a failed ambush. She seems to enjoy the challenge but the prey that I have seen her devour faster than anything else are mantises.
One of my favorite things to do when Meow is having a post-butterfly snack nap is to talk to her and watch her tail move. No matter how deep she is sleeping she will always flick her tail when I offer up a short original kitty song. I sing to my cat, and there's no shame in that because there's only 30 people in our village, gotta stay entertained.
