I listen to a lot of Afrobeats and artists like Chris Brown and James Arthur, but honestly, I can’t say I have one specific favorite song. Music is actually a big part of my life, and most times what I listen to depends on my mood. Right now, the songs I’ve been putting on repeat for weeks are "March Am" by Rema, A Year Ago by James Arthur, and Shooter by Chris Brown. They’re completely different songs, but each one has have the way they make me feel, and I just keep going back to them.
First of all, let me talk about "March Am" by Rema. I am actually someone who loves to dance, and that’s the reason why this song is top on my list. No matter how down I’m feeling, or how bad my day went, as soon as i start playing this song through my phone speaker or through the araimo earpods, I always want to just get up and just move my body to the rytnm . It always helps me get rid of stress and my worries. Honestly, the lyrics doesn't hold much meaning but that doesn't actually matter to me, i just want to have a good time and that’s why the rhythm is everything for me . The beat is so infectious, and it’s actually impossible to listen to March am, without at least nodding your head. I actually do love everything about the sound of this song and whenever I hear it, I just forget about everything else and just enjoy the moment.
Now, "A Year Ago" by James Arthur is a whole different vibe. I came across this song some time last year while i was scrolling through TikTok, and even though I’m not usually into those slow-paced emotional songs, this one did it for me. The snippet I heard was so powerful that I had listen to the full song and when i listened to it, i felt the words being said in it. The thing is, james Arthur has this way of singing with so much emotion and power in his voice that you just can’t help but feel every word in the song. It is actually more of a break up song and to be honest, it is not the kind of song i would listen to on a normal day, but then i was happy i gave the song a chance because it made me see that there was more to songs than just vibing to the rhythm.
Then the last song is "Shooter" by Chris Brown, which is another one of those songs that makes me want to dance. Just like March am, the lyrics actually doesn't hold much meaning but then i love the the melody and the voice of the back up singers on the song. However, what keeps me engaged with the song is actuallt the rythm. It’s smooth and addictive. Chris Brown just knows how to create music that makes you feel good and this song is one of those tracks that can instantly lift your mood, no matter what’s going on. It’s the kind of song you play when you just want to have fun and listen to something that could lighten up your mood.
I listen to music every day, and with new songs coming out all the time, my favorites are always changing. Honestly, by next week, I might be enjoy listening to completely different songs. But for now, these three songs—March Am, A Year Ago, and Shooter—are the ones i have being putting on repeat. They are literally my go-to tracks.
