Trees are one of the most important and useful creatures that where created by God. They have several importance to man, animal and even to the environment.
As someone who is an agriculturist and has a knowledge about different plants and trees , I have had the priviledge to come across some of it's importance to agriculture and to our environment at large.
First of all, trees have the ablitity to absorb carbon dioxide. Most of the times in our environment , there is always a release of carbon dioxide from cars through the smoke that comes out from the pipe. This harmful gas usually contributes to global warming and also climate change and if there are enough trees planted in that particular area they can absorb them and reduce the harm it would have on our environment.
They help to prevent erosion. Trees have rigid roots that enables them to accumulate alot of water all the same time. So practice afforestation will help to prevent flooding and reduce the risk of erosion that normally affects our soil and even the plants on the farm.
I had the chance to visit a place called Magodo in in Lagos and I had the priviledge to come across the way trees where planted by the road side to beautify the environment and also enable a cool atmosphere.
In Nigeria , we are blessed with trees that serve as source of raw materials. One of them is the rubber trees that we use to create rubber tyres, rubber bands and even rubber bucket. Another tree is teak. My high school was located in a rain forest so I was able to see this trees, they are usually very tall trees and usually grow flowers at the top. They are good for furniture and also helps to preserve the atmosphere.
It saddens me when I see several people engaging in cutting down of trees without replanting them with a new one. These practice has lead to a change in our climate here in Nigeria and has really affected us beyond limit. For instance, in my area, you would hardly find trees most of the trees have been cut down and houses have been built on the lands.
How do I celebrate trees??
I do not have a specific way of celebrating trees, but I do spend time with them, by using their presence as a means to relax, get fresh air, and cool down my mind and body.
However In Nigeria, some traditions involve in worshiping trees and use them as way to serve their gods and dieties. Although I haven't witnessed these practices myself, as my religion doesn't permit such activities, but I do acknowledge the cultural significance trees hold for those people.

Los árboles son una de las criaturas más importantes y útiles que Dios creó. Tienen varias ventajas para el hombre, los animales y el medio ambiente.
Como alguien que es agricultor y tiene conocimientos sobre plantas, he tenido el privilegio de conocer algunas de sus ventajas para la agricultura y para nuestro entorno en general.
Primero, los árboles tienen la capacidad de absorber dióxido de carbono. En nuestro entorno, a menudo se libera dióxido de carbono de los coches a través del humo que sale del tubo de escape. Este gas dañino contribuye al calentamiento global y al cambio climático. Si hay suficientes árboles plantados en un área, pueden absorber este dióxido de carbono y reducir el daño que causaría a nuestro entorno.
Ayudan a prevenir la erosión. Los árboles tienen raíces fuertes que les permiten acumular una gran cantidad de agua al mismo tiempo. Por lo tanto, practicar la reforestación ayudará a prevenir inundaciones y reducir el riesgo de erosión que normalmente afecta a nuestro suelo e incluso a las plantas en el campo.
Tuve la oportunidad de visitar un lugar llamado Magodo en Lagos y tuve el privilegio de ver cómo se plantaron árboles a lo largo de la carretera para embellecer el entorno y también para proporcionar una atmósfera fresca.
En Nigeria, estamos bendecidos con árboles que sirven como fuente de materias primas. Uno de ellos es el árbol de caucho, que usamos para crear neumáticos, bandas de goma e incluso cubos de caucho. Otro árbol es el teca. Mi escuela secundaria estaba ubicada en una selva tropical, por lo que pude ver estos árboles. Son árboles muy altos y suelen tener flores en la parte superior. Son buenos para la fabricación de muebles y también ayudan a preservar la atmósfera.
Me entristece ver a muchas personas cortar árboles sin replantar nuevos. Estas prácticas han llevado a un cambio en nuestro clima aquí en Nigeria y nos han afectado más allá de lo imaginable. Por ejemplo, en mi área, apenas se encuentran árboles; la mayoría de ellos han sido talados y los terrenos ya se han utilizado para diversos fines.
¿Cómo celebro los árboles?
No tengo una manera específica de celebrar los árboles, pero paso tiempo con ellos, utilizando su presencia como un medio para relajarme, obtener aire fresco y calmar mi mente y mi cuerpo.
Sin embargo, en Nigeria, algunas tradiciones implican adorar a los árboles y usarlos para servir a sus dioses. Aunque no he sido testigo de estas prácticas personalmente, ya que mi religión no permite tales actividades, reconozco la importancia cultural que los árboles tienen para algunas personas.
