Season One of World of Warcraft's latest expansion began yesterday and I wasted no time whatsoever diving into all the things that came with it! 😁
Thanks to this season starting we now have access to higher tier Delves, Mythic Dungeons, World Bosses, and the first Raid. ALSO. The Great Vault so we can get a chance at a piece of gear based on the activities that are done throughout the week.
My first item of interest was the Delves.
I really enjoyed the delves in the first couple of weeks of the expansion and I was looking forward to being able to complete higher delves and earn higher level rewards.
And boy howdy. I think it's safe to say that my highest reward in the Great Vault next week will all be thanks to delving. I also got a nice ilvl 610 chestpiece with perfect stats on it in the treasure room of one of these delves!
So chuffed!
I'm currently doing Tier 8 delves which is definitely as far as I can go for now. Technically you need a gear score of 600+ to do these and I'm just scraping by, solo, at a gear score of 593. They are very difficult and it's slow going, especially considering I need to treat each and every little group as though it were a boss encounter in order to defeat it. 😅
It's worth it though. I have good gear awaiting me next Wednesday!
As I'm not a raider, I just did the Looking For Raid version of the new raid which just offers the first three bosses and a markedly easier experience than a 'proper' raid.
It wasn't too bad! Sometimes these LFR groups can be absolute torture, but the one I joined was competent, everyone had the DBM mod and knew to run, get out of stuff, soak things, etc, and it was not a painful experience at all. The boss fights seemed pretty easy overall, very simple mechanics.
I almost want to sign up for a Normal Raid... but... eh.
The world boss that was released this week is this great creature that lurks in the Ringing Deeps.
They've done something a bit different with this world boss. Normally, the boss will spawn and there'll be groups forming for people to come together and kill it.
Not this time.
This time you need to go around, kill groups of normal enemies, find these Breaker mobs and escort them to the world boss, and once three have been escorted... they break the shield around the boss and everyone can kill it.
I suppose doing things this way allows time for people to come and join the event, but otherwise... it just seems a bit annoying.
Other than that, my group and I started on the new Mythic Dungeons that are available for this season. Unfortunately, they're all dungeons we don't particularly like. xD
Two of the dungeons in this rotation are Shadowlands Dungeons, and while they're not my favourite I'm just grateful they didn't give us Plaguefall. The worst dungeon ever.
We did three Mythic dungeons last night: Necrotic Wake, The Dawnbreaker, and Stonevault... and it was pretty good! A couple of stuff ups, but that's to be expected when we haven't dungeoned together in over a year. 😅 Unfortunately we've lost our third dps due to night-shift work commitments, so we're going to need the occasional random.
This week's Mythic dungeons are just Mythic 0, so there's no chance to progress further until next week. But that's fine! Gives us a chance to learn the new dungeons and re-learn the older ones. 😅
All in all, I'm pretty happy with this season start!
I'm really enjoying the delves and the fact that you don't need to do dungeons or raids to get amazing gear. These are cool things that can be done in a group or solo and I'm loving the challenge of doing them solo.
If I had enough keys to open the bountiful chests at the end of some of them, I'd do these things every day. I'd gear up just with delves. xD But alas, can only do so many a week.
