A positive side effect of the flood was that my big orange cat had decided to stay with us instead of going back to our neighbour’s house. Joan, the big cat, had probably felt that it’s much safer here than at the other house. My gardener told me that the brown dog had chased Joan around the neighbour’s garden a few times. Last time he was chased upstairs to second floor. That brown dog was obsessed with hunting cats! He also bit one person’ backside and pushed the other person to the ground.
Joan liked to protest about his living condition from time to time. Life was so bad that he didn’t have a nice bed for sleeping!
Last week that dog walked passed our house and noticed two orange cats sitting around the front yard. These cats wouldn’t run away because they knew I would chase that dog away. I could read that dog’s eye expression. He was upset that he could no longer chase the orange cat inside my neighbour’s house lately. He thought he would sneak into my garden via the small gate at the side. I couldn’t believe that I could read his thought.
So, I went to hide by the small gate and waited for the dog to turn up. After about ten minutes, that brown dog quietly sneaked into the banana groves and came to stop at the small gate. I pounced on him with loud noises! He was so frightened by the surprising reception that he ran away as fast as he could. I hoped this would deter him from trying to sneak into our garden for a long time. My two cats had no clue that the dog was about to enter by the small gate. I guessed they were glad that I was there to protect them.
Recently I have noticed that some day my cats preferred to be alone by themselves. They would disappear the whole day, I couldn’t spot them in the garden or under the bench. My gardener told me that they might be sleeping in the banana groves. Usually, late morning around my coffee break, both cats would come to see me and ask for their snacks. Then, they would go to sleep on their favourite beds till late afternoon.
I liked my cats to be independent emotionally but their disappearance without telling me their reasons gave me some concern. That brown dog could sneak back in the garden again so I hoped they had very good hiding places. The problem was that sometimes I didn’t pay attention to my cats’ changing behaviour. They could be having stomach trouble or some inner pain but they just didn’t communicate that to me. These cats were too considerate and didn’t want to tell me that they were in pain. These cats preferred to keep quiet when they had stomachache or some injury and stay by themselves until they felt much better.
When Kwan felt alright, she would be sleeping like this!
Last week, I found Kwan behaving very strange. She didn’t come to see me so
I had to search for her around the garden. I found her looking very subdue and she was lying in strange postures all by herself. She seemed to be sick but she had no fever. So, I gave her a back massage and tried to ask her what’s wrong with her. Her face looked a bit sad and strained as if in some kind of pain. But there was nothing broken so I asked myself what’s the matter with this cat. She definitely didn’t look very happy or joyful.
Her face wasn’t very happy or cheerful. I tried to cheer her up with flowers. But she didn’t have any energy. So, I knew something was stoked with her.
Suddenly, the image of Kwan catching a small mouse on the roof of the storage room popped into my head. That’s the first time I saw her catching a mouse and eating it by herself. I left her on the roof for half an hour then I let her back into the kitchen. There was nothing left on the roof. I couldn’t believe that she could have eaten the whole mouse! That’s probably why she had stomachache. She shouldn’t have eaten all the hard parts which could be very difficult to digest. So, I gave her some medicine with some wet food for her to lick up. Kwan ate very little the whole day. I had to give her some medicine after two hours just to make sure the infection had gone.
The following day, she turned out as cheerful and bubbly as usual. I was so glad Kwan had recovered from her stomach trouble. At first I thought I had to bring her to the vet whom I couldn’t really trust these days. They tried to sell their latest drug at very high prices without giving any alternatives. I was glad I could look after my cats with home made herbal remedy and some generic medicine.
Then, it’s Joan’s turn to become quite ill the following day. He slept without waking up for his snack and lunch. That was very unusual, so I had to touch him to find out the reason. His body was very hot, he was too weak to walk with such high fever. I had to give him the usual medicine. After an hour, his body was still too warm so he needed a second dose. Joan got up for his dinner two hours later without any fever. I wondered why his fever was rather worse than usual. The normal cat flu could be cured within a day with a single dose. I had to give him stronger dose twice every two hours this time.
It was such a relief to see orange cats being healthy and happy everyday. I just wished they could tell me whenever they were ill or needed help so that I could act immediately. I was lucky to have found alternative ways for healing my cats. The more advanced the medical field has become, the more suspicion and distrust I have for modern medicine. The ethical standards have been replaced by profits in medicine. Local villagers were persuaded to pay for expensive imported drug instead of locally manufactured drugs; the commission from drug companies have become the incentive for pushing new drugs whether the patients really needed them or not. These modern drugs often had very nasty and dangerous side effects which would cause new illnesses.
Most villagers couldn’t read English or do necessary research on the internet. So, they often threw the new expensive drugs away after three days. The side effects made them feeling much worse. Now several villagers have returned to local herbal medicine after such nasty experiences. I did warn the skinny monk not to take his kittens to have any modern vaccines. He didn’t listen to my warning. Nowadays, he refused to take the kittens to the vet as two kittens had severe fits and died after their injections. Modern drugs had lots of
mRNA and heavy metals as adjuvants, small animals would suffer badly as a result. I had to find more time to study our traditional herbs and medicine so that we could heal ourselves when the supply chains went down during a big kinetic confrontation in the near future.
Wishing you peace, good health and prosperity.
Stay strong and cheerful.
