Sometimes, life can surprise you in the most unexpected ways.
For years, faraway journeys felt like distant dreams to me. I was always too busy, I did not plan and once I even declined a trip opportunity.
However, in 2024 everything changed — I embarked on not one, but two incredible long-distance adventures, the farthest I’ve traveled in recent memory. I even received my very first passport stamp!
In this post, I will share some of the airplane & airport moments of 2024, captured from the skies and on the ground.
Switzerland - Zuerich Airport in summer 2024.
A journey that was halted before it even really began.
My flight to Poland was delayed at first, and cancelled later on - so I was trying to gather my pieces and figure out what to do.
It was July 19th, when most of the airplanes were grounded - thousands of passengers around the world were caged in airports and cities where they could not get away from. So, I decided to explore Zuerich Airport :)
Impressive!
For the first time ever, I saw that there were SMOKING ROOMS!
Unbelievable for me!
My Airport. Heraklion (HER) in Crete
Once you have tasted flight, you will forever walk the earth with your eyes turned skyward, for there you have been, and there you will always long to return."
This quote is attributed to Leonardo da Vinci, Italian painter and inventor, (1452-1519)
This quote is widely attributed to da Vinci himself, however no proof exists that he actually wrote or said it. The quote actually comes from a 1965 film about da Vinci, titled I, Leonardo da Vinci. The script was written by John H. Secondari, so it is most likely Secondari who actually wrote the words, but he was writing them for da Vinci to say, which creates a confusing bit of attribution. Still, da Vinci was fascinated with flight and spent great amounts of time pondering it, so the quote fits well into his headspace. source
And I think that the quote is right. I often feel the same way.
Going up to the sky, everything changes.
You feel so free, so miraculous, but also so vulnerable. But look at this magic.
Blue or sandy, the excitement remains.
In need of blue skies, white clouds and some wings to fly.
There’s nothing like a window seat and a sky full of dreams
This was one of the window views that I enjoyed the most!

The suns reflection was amazing and I cannot count the photos I took. The airplane was so full and I felt so lucky that I found a window seat!
The below photos are from Dubai - a place that I plan to talk in more detail in the future because I have some really interesting and useful tips to share :)
Dubai Airport was very impressive and shiny!
I hope you enjoyed the photos and the tour!
Flying is a really unique experience — do you feel the same way?
✈️ Do you spend the flight taking photos from the window?
✈️ Are you a nervous flyer, or do you enjoy the ride?
✈️ Do you dive into a book, watch movies, listen to music or try to chat with your next-seat traveler?
