Some say the world can never be the same because of COVID-19. Our way of life on Planet Earth had been changed drastically by the experience of going through this pandemic.
If we recollect the numerous adjustments we made ever since the start of the pandemic, there will be lots to list.
Even now, we can perhaps still notice remnants of it although the pandemic is now supposed to be endemic in most places. Some are still donning masks even when it is not mandatory. The mind may also remain quite sensitive to personal hygiene lapses. Social distancing had also become a well-learned reflex for some.
Don't get me wrong. These are all useful strategies for protecting ourselves. We may need still them, so if they had become our way of life, that is fine.
What is not fine is the fear that had been inflicted on us by the pandemic.
This thought that the world can never be the same because of COVID-19, expressed in a negative way is a kind of fear.
Personally, I notice that this remnant of negativity associated with COVID-19 is what I need to let go of. Only when I let go of it would I find the energy to be fair to the opportunities each day offers.
I reckon we should just take COVID-19 and the negativity as the goals we conceded in the first half of a football game. Let this very moment be the half-time break that we can use to reorganize. We can start afresh for the remainder of the game.
So it is not necessarily true that the world can never be the same because of COVID-19. If we stop allowing the remnants of COVID-19's negativity to affect us, we can go back to living a lifestyle that is unaffected by the pandemic.
It is time to mindfully let go of the COVID-19 pandemic, whatever that means... is the second half.
