I wanted to start my post today with these lines, because still, more than 200 years after the birth of photography, there are those who think that a better camera guarantees good photos. For me, a good photo comes from your culture, from your ability to see what others don't notice. I have taken incredible photos with a cell phone (even low or medium range), and also too normal and insipid photos using professional cameras.
I know I haven't taken the best pictures of my life yet, but hey, I'm not chasing them either, I'd rather let them surprise me. I am constantly learning, getting to know my camera better every moment and getting to know myself better, because photography is something that completely depends on how you see the image in your head and above all on your emotions. Images without emotions do not matter to me at all, no matter how perfect they may be, they are just that: celluloid statues, poorly armed and worse displayed.

Many "photographers" believe that there is an artistic regulation of the profession, a set of rules to follow. For me, the rules are my own creativity and what each image asks me at each moment. There is no canon about what is correct or not. You can follow the rules and take perfectly forgettable, emotionless pictures. You can break the rules and take very interesting pictures. The world is full of perfect books that no one reads, perfect music that no one listens to, perfect paintings that no one looks at. I prefer emotion to perfection!

He querido comenzar mi post de hoy con estas líneas, porque todavía, a más de 200 años del nacimiento de la fotografía, existen aquellos que piensan que una mejor cámara garantiza buenas fotos. Para mí, una buena foto nace de tu cultura, de tu capacidad para ver lo que a otros les pasa inadvertido. He hecho fotos increíbles con un teléfono celular (incluso de gama media o baja), y también fotos demasiado normales e insípidas usando cámaras profesionales.
Sé que aún no he hecho las mejores fotografías de mi vida, pero hey, tampoco las persigo, prefiero dejar que me sorprendan. Estoy en un constante aprendizaje, conociendo mejor mi cámara a cada instante y conociéndome mejor a mí mismo, porque la fotografía es algo que depende completamente de cómo veas la imagen en tu cabeza y sobre todo en tus emociones. Las imágenes sin emociones no me importan en lo absoluto, por mucha perfección que puedan tener, son solo eso: estatuas de celuloide, mal armadas y peor mostradas.

Muchos "fotógrafos" creen que existe un reglamento artístico de la profesión, un conjunto de normas a seguir. Para mí, las reglas son mi propia creatividad y lo que cada imagen me pide en cada momento. No existe un canon sobre lo que es correcto o no. Puedes segir las reglas y hacer fotografías perfectamente olvidables y sin emoción. Puedes romper las reglas y hacer fotografías muy interesantes. El mundo está lleno de libros perfectos que nadie lee, de música perfecta que nadie escucha, de cuadros perfectos que nadie mira. ¡Prefiero la emoción a la perfección!
