Happy Monday Hivers!
In a few days, we will be celebrating Christmas Day. People usually celebrate the holiday season with their loved ones. In my case, I haven't spent Christmas and New Year with my family for a few years already, and that has made me realize that this year I will celebrate Christmas and New Year at home with the family.
A week ago, I arrived home after a few months of traveling to different places. I could feel how excited my father was when he learned that I would be coming home. He kept sending me messages asking about the time of my arrival.
On my second day at home, I woke up early and went outside because I wanted to check his garden. There's a small vacant lot at home, so he turned it into a backyard garden. When I reached the garden area, my father was already there, busy watering the plants.
We harvested one buko as I was craving for it. When we buy this in the market, it costs 20 to 25 PHP per buko. We were grateful to have this right in front of our house.
Both my father and mother usually prepare a delightful meal when their children come home. My father cooked menudo that time. While he was cooking, we talked about random things until the food was completely ready. That's our usual bonding when I'm home.
I remember when I was in college; we usually cooked Visayan-style vegetables for dinner. We both liked vegetables. We called it in our own dialect "utan bisaya." I was the one who would prepare the vegetables, and he cooked after preparing. We talked about random things until the food was cooked. Even now, that is still our bonding.
When the menudo was already cooked, I set up the table, and we ate together. Maybe my father also missed that bonding, as I could see how happy he was when we did such things together again.
Although it was such a simple way of bonding, I could see the joy in his eyes. My father is getting older, and maybe I need to spend more time with him.
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!

Namaste! I am fond of reading books, watching korean, american and filipino series/movies and I am also fond of gardening. I love listening to different life stories and I am always captivated with the beauty of nature so travel is my escape when life turns into blue. But hey, how could I forget my photography hobby? It is one of the best, so follow me as I will be featuring my experiences of the stuff that I am passionate with.
