Happy Thursday Hivers!
In the Philippines, godchildren will usually visit the houses of their godparents during Christmas day. They are excited to come to your house and greet you with smiles on their faces. However, if godparents have not allocated a budget for their gifts, it's okay if they don't give Christmas presents since it is not compulsory.
Since I am not often spending Christmas at home, I rarely give Christmas presents to my godchildren. I have five godchildren; three of them live in distant places, but the other two are my relatives, and they live very close to our house. So, whenever I am home during Christmas, I have no escape. 🤣
I am very lazy to buy Christmas gifts because of the many people flocking to the mall before Christmas, and aside from that, I am uncertain if they will like the things I have bought for them. That's why I opted to give them money.
Since I experienced financial struggles during the pandemic, I have learned to be mindful of my spending. I didn't give lavish Christmas gifts to my godchildren; instead, I gave each of them Php100.00 along with chocolate.
I don't know if you've noticed, but children are already happy when they receive chocolate. That's what I've observed every time I give them chocolates. Perhaps it's because children can genuinely appreciate simple things, and even candies bring them joy; that's why I included chocolate.
My grandchildren already know that I am not the type of godmother who wraps gifts for them. They understand that I simply give them money, although not a large amount. It is a small sum because the primary purpose of godparents is not just to provide gifts during Christmas but to assist parents in guiding their children.
How about you? Are you someone who not only wraps Christmas gifts for your grandchildren but also tends to be a lavish giver?
Thank you for reading and see you on my next blog. Cheers!
