C'mon lads. Tuesday and Wednesday night football is back again. I'm incredibly excited about this.
There are some fresh addition to the champions league squad of many teams across the top leagues in Europe and it will be exciting to see the impact they will have on the performance of their club.
As we build up to the start of another exciting season of the Champions League, I've got to admit that I'm excited to see how pundits are already tipping the likes of Real Madrid, PSG, Manchester City, Bayern Munich, Barcelona and co as the favourites in this edition of the Champions League.
Fair play to them.
Y'all know what to expect from these clubs, but the interesting part of this discussion is that some of them may not go beyond the round of 16. Haha.
Now, that's crazy! Football has a way of making you look stupid after giving well-researched previews and predictions. The unpredictability of the game especially at the Champions League level always leaves me in awe.
I'm already anticipating the fixtures that will be played today and tomorrow in the Champions League.
Because of the nature of the game, every point matters. For obvious reasons, getting the maximum point is more advantageous but getting a point is fairly more inspiration than being on the losing end.
Yeah, UCL is a game of two rounds.
Let's look at the fixtures that will be played this week;
Today's games 👇
17:45 - Dinamo Zagreb vs Chelsea
20:00 - Sevilla vs Manchester City
20:00 - Paris Saint-Germain vs Juventus
Tomorrow's games 👇
20:00 - Napoli vs Liverpool
20:00 - Inter vs Bayern Munich
20:00 - Tottenham Hotspur vs Marseille
These are not the only games for today and tomorrow in the Champions League, but those are the ones I will likely watch. I guess my love for EPL is visible in that selection. Haha.
Can we take a moment to explore the chances Liverpool has in this season of the Champions League?
You know, I always have a way to bring Liverpool into the discussion. This time around, there are genuine reasons to be worried because our performance so far in this new footballing season has not been convincing.
We just got off the back of a goalless draw in the game we played against Everton. We were quite lucky to leave that game with a point. Now, we will be away to play Napoli in Diego Armando Maradona stadium over there in Naples, Italy.
On some level, I'm hoping for a win in this game because Liverpool has a knack for getting the job done in UCL. Some of our injured players are also back in the squad and Thiago trained with the lads this morning.
Well, that's enough talking. I'm already filled with a surge of anticipation as I await the beginning of this season of the Champions League.
May the best teams win. Hehe.
