To begin, Jerry Zucker’s 1990 Academy award winning film GHOST has seen plenty of spin time in my old DVD player over the years. It’s not your typical Horror movie but more a supernatural chick flick and has been one of my personal favorites in my video library. 😄
An adventure I would love to one day/night participate in is Ghost Hunting, that is, hunting with a camera to record on film/memory card the elusive full body apparition. While there are plenty of Ghost Walks and Haunted Tours about most major cities one may happen to come across a ghost or apparition but fewer go into active Ghost hunting on the dead quiet of the night without all the daytime distractions.

My Interest in a Ghost Hunting adventure.
I work plenty of years as a Night Shift nurse in various settings. I try to learn about a given unit’s previous history of clients and patients that passed away and I pay particular attention to any accounts or incidences of paranormal activity.
Armed with a smartphone camera, a reliable small Cree flashlight, and a sense of adventure I hope to experience a genuine paranormal encounter and have a photo to back that up.
So did I get any tangible results?

Yes and no.
I have heard voices that were not attributable to any of the patients under my care. I have heard footsteps in hallways and near my station yet all my patients are all paraplegic. I heard fluttering of a bird coming at me from one end of a hallway before stopping halfway. I hear a noise in one room so I go to investigate only to hear a noise in another or from the room I just vacated. It’s no wonder most of the girls don’t like the Night shift. And yes, I work alone for 6 of the 8 hour shift.
I had one patient of a low IQ carry into a conversation with someone in his room in the middle of the night. This was when I became familiar with ‘Charlie’ a late friend of my patient. There is a toy magic wand ‘Charlie’ enjoyed playing with. I found it in a box of toys in one of the Unit’s storage room. I regularly leave it on the desk in plain view most nights in hopes of drawing him out to play or talk. I never moved, at least while I was there. I think that these spirits are afraid of me.
After further inquiries of past patients I discovered that there were two additional late patients other than 'Charlie'.
Mind you, the Night shift is not all sitting around waiting for a patient to call or most often scream. Some house cleaning work is always necessary, paperwork and reports are kept up to date. Inventories and supplies are checked and orders issued. Then medications are double checked.
There was one paranormal manifestation in my old 1950s built home. When my eldest son was very young he kept seeing small dark forms scurrying about in our hallway floor in the glow of a night light between the bathroom and the kitchen outside his bedroom door if left open. It wasn't every night but I did check when I could but never seeing any manifestation. Spirits of former pets that were in our household perhaps? All a part of the workings of the spirit world. Rational adults may not perceive these manifestations but for some reason only the minds of innocents can see them.
There's not much free time on my night shift routine and there is always a clipboard full of things that needed to be done. Any genuine activity are few and very far between. When something does occur its too late to record or taking a shot. Real ghost hunting may have to wait for a vacation or in my retirement years.
Until I can get into a real Ghost Hunt, I really doubt I could come across a genuine apparition unless I could make the time and energy to camp out at a known haunting or in my local cemetery with City Hall's permission.
If I'm lucky I will post the photo of a full body apparition here first on Hive, chances are, the ghost will not be the late Patrick Swayze.
