Nearing 2 Years Daily Posting

God, I honestly can't believe it has nearly been two years to the day. In 9 days I'll have written and published something every single day without fail.

I had a few streaks before taking the plunge on January 1st 2023 - the longest of which was about 5 months - to think that I've done nearly 5x that amount now is crazy to me.

One thing too, I don't think I write - or have written - a bunch of crap. Most of it has been short stories, longer multi-part stories, a novel, and a few novellas as well as enough world building/ pondering posts that could essentially fill a world bible of sorts.

I've compiled the bulk of all of the fiction I've written, and added it to a document where I can essentially take the best ones with the intention of publishing it as an Anthology series.

A friend is currently near the end of one of the novels and has given me so many notes along the way which has really helped to re-evaluate it. Hearing someone else's thoughts on something, and discussing aspects of the story, characters and background has been great. Many ideas have come to mind during these conversations and he has pointed out so many things that I never considered.

When he finishes that pass, I'll be ready to edit it as a whole and it'll be very close to releasing once that happens.

It's hard to create posts, while juggling work, family, socializing and other hobbies and aspects of my life while also adding on the addition of working on editing previous stories, so that has been one aspect that I haven't really been able to manage.

Editing Previous Work

On one hand I'm thinking of just stopping the daily posting come January 1st 2025, but then again, should?

I mean, if I can manage to keep it up, why not? I told myself I'd stop after 1 year, but here we are. So why not just keep going, keep writing, keep improving and keep creating.

If I can set myself up with a schedule, 20-30 minutes a day editing previous work. That's doable I'm sure, and beneficial.

I have an idea I'm currently working on that involves my previous work, as well as promoting it in an exiting way that seems to be working for similar content. If I can get it off the ground and start it up early 2025 it would be a great way of getting my stuff out there, and to do it I'd be kind of editing it on the fly.

I'm not sure how everything is going to go, but what I do know is that next year will be far more productive than this year, and this year has been extremely productive.

Sort:

That's a lot of creativity. Great if you can build some editing into your time as well.

Yeah too right, I'll work on that during 2025, 30 minutes a day would be great, especially if I could try and work it into my morning routine in some way. Coffee and some editing, then get on witht he rest of the day. I get up really early everyday, so it would be worth getting in the zone of it

👍

That’s awesome congrats man! I think I’m nearing 4 years of daily posting myself! It’s really wild how we dive into something like this and keep it going.

I think it’s also great that you put out good content and not just fluff shit. That’s important!

Damn man, 4 years is a kickass streak, I'm strongly leaning toward going for a 3 year one, I wasn't sure if I'd make 1, then the second I figured it would be impossible but this year has actually been easier I think, so one more shouldn't be a problem.

It becomes such an ingrained habbit I think, that not writing something feels weird in a way haha

Yeah I hear you! I schedule all of my stuff and that helps. I haven’t written anything in a week because we were on vacation and that felt tough. I have to get back into gear and do some writing lol

I'm going to keep it going for longer. I don't know when I'm going to give up the daily post - maybe when I hit 100k hive power? Hard to say lol but the opportunity cost is real.

That's a pretty decent goal man. Thing is though, once you hit one milestone, there's always a slightly higher one to achieve haha

The Ecency app has been a life saver in that regard, while out of town, or even out of the country I've been able to keep up the streak, and also drafting posts too has been so handy.

That's some streak. I had runs of a week or so, but then I run out of things to post. I've done less recently as I haven't been running. That's okay as I can earn anyway and I'll support others. I try not to get hung up on these things, but then I have a 600 day streak on Duolingo :)

!BEER

I always had it in mind that if a day comes that I have nothing to write about I'll gladly just let the streak fall and just wait until the inspiration takes me to write, but luckily that hasn't happened yet.

Sometimes I write some in drafts as a backup, and a lot of the time I have a note book with post ideas for the days things ideas are slow.

A 600 day streak on duolingo is great, are you focusing on a particular language or do you bounce around a bit?

I have been trying not to worry too much about posting as I want it to have value when I do. I do some short stuff on Snaps and Waves.

I'm doing French on Duolingo and may understand it better than I did when at school. I have needed to use some 'freezes' when I could not do a lesson or just forgot.

Back in school I was never interested in learning another language, but as I got out of it I became really interested in it. I've picked up a bit of Spanish, but not enough to hold even a basic conversation, but I do find it cool that I know enough to ask for stuff.

Man, fantastic work. I haven't even managed to read something here very day, let alone write! That's huge, great job!

Thank you so much dude, it's not easy, but having it engrained is what has helped a lot to keep it up. Also, bouncing around a bit and writing different types of content 100% helps to stay inspired and keep it up.

Exciting last days until it's congratulations time :-)

It's hard to create posts, while juggling work, family, socializing and other hobbies and aspects of my life while also adding on the addition of working on editing previous stories, so that has been one aspect that I haven't really been able to manage.

I feel with you.

Still aspiring and astonishing what you have acomplished. Will be a hell of a celebration in a few days :-)

I'm not sure how everything is going to go, but what I do know is that next year will be far more productive than this year, and this year has been extremely productive.

So keep on posting then 😉

And soon, when you're a successfully published author and one day maybe we meet at a book signing you know where it all began 😅

Hahaha, I don't know if that'll be the case, but hey, I've always thought if I get my work published I'll us it to promote Hive. It would be kind of cool allowing people to tune in here to see first drafts of work, and some blog style content about the world and setting, as well as the other stuff I write about.

One hell of a celebration indeed, I'm looking forward to earning my second badge too.

Yeah, that would be cool. Who knows, maybe one day. Wish you the best. !Hug

P.S.: Merry Christmas
