I remember when I started out as a graphics designer, one of the core lessons we took very seriously was art. According to my boss then, it was necessary we understood how art worked because it would be important for us if we ever need to translate the idea in our head. History has it that art was first discovered as a means of communication, The ancient men sort out ways and mediums of communication especially in times when plain words failed. The beauty of art is in the message it sends. Imagine the love of your life drawing something random but when you look at it closely, it’s your name written on it with the words I LOVE YOU. As casual as it may sound, this can be very beautiful to the one in love, especially because a statement as simple as that carries more weight when illustrated with art.

That’s what you call a work of art. It’s not just about the colours and paintings, it’s not about the beautiful voices and instrumentals, it’s about what is being said, and how it’s being said. Sometimes I listen to artists just speak nonsense to a good beat and because the Gen Zs who never experienced good music hear it, they say it’s great. Although I wouldn’t write most of this music out completely because at the end of the day, it gives a vibe that is danceable which is art. My only problem is that it doesn’t make complete sense. It's always beautiful when an artist sings a song and no matter the century the song is sang, it still carries as much weight as it is supposed to because the writer communicated the emotions into every lyrics.
You listen to music then and feel not just the song but the emotions of the songs, You listen to poets and hear not just the words, but the emotions behind them, you see drawings and sometimes you would feel like eating them because of the emotions in them. The beauty of art is in the emotions and how contagious it can be. A beautiful art isn’t always the most colourful, it’s the most emotional piece of work, and when we are able to fully express a certain emotion, it becomes so beautiful and is usually most appreciated.
It’s still strange how one major issue humans still face today is communication. This is because it can be easy and hard at the same time. More so it can be easily misinterpreted or understood from an entirely different perspective. This is where art comes in, Breaking most of the barriers we have in communication and helping us understand what is being said at every point in time. No matter the form, the idea is that the message is passed and the words are understood. It’s more beautiful when you learn something new from something very little because it was communicated with the emotion needed to create it.
