Greetings!
In as much as I have learned the importance of positivity from church sermons, it's something I've personally taken far, and it has become a big part of my lifestyle. I am someone who derives immense pleasure from staying in places that give me positive vibes, and anything short of that makes me disappear from the scene. I do not care if people call me names for such acts.
To me, positivity is not just about confessing nice things, as many people casually do. It is far more than that. It is about being in places that give me hope, reduce my worries, and bring me laughter, no matter the circumstances.
You know, the Christian holy book states that "as a man thinks in his heart, so is he." No matter how hard people argue about the truth of this saying, I find it to be very real. When you dwell on negativity, fears, depression, and bad things naturally become the order of the day. The reverse is the case for being positive.
I used to have many acquaintances who loved attaching negative spiritual meanings to every occurrence around them. I currently have one in my compound, a neighbor, actually. Whenever he sees a wall gecko, he starts saying all sorts of scary things, associating them with bad omens because his dad is into herbal practices, and they believe wall geckos are evil and should not be allowed into the house. Naturally, when such talks are absorbed and nurtured in the mind, fear of bad things happening begins to grow. That is how the heart works—it accumulates what you feed it with and acts according to those thoughts.
He stopped making such remarks in my presence, not because I warned him, but because of how I often act and react whenever he starts his "sermon." He would see me walk away or start playing loud music. Lol.
This is the same person that had a little malaria symptom and he concluded that what's happening to him is actually an attack from his enemies. So sickness can't occur naturally again? 🤣
As it is with me, even though there is actually no material benefit in always being positive, it is what I will continue to do because I cannot imagine seeing things from the negative perspective most people have. You know, some people argue that it is good to be negative sometimes because it brings out some truths about life. Well, I believe those truths can still reveal themselves when I am being positive and joyful.
Yes, I intentionally tag being joyful alongside being positive. I am trying my best not to delve too deeply into the religious aspect, but there is a part of the Bible that says, "A merry heart does good like medicine." I do not know about you, but for me, there is this special hormone that circulates through my body whenever I am laughing and in a joyful state. It is the same kind of vibe I get when I am being positive about something—it gives me energy to carry on and face life without fear.
This is why I avoid so many meetings and discussions that lead to deep thinking and eventually negative imaginations.
