Hello everyone!
Although I do not often get creative with DIY projects like others who turn trash or unusable items into something useful, one thing I do know is that anything at all can be used or converted into something else. Anything that seems useless can practically and creatively be put to use.
Two years ago, there was a table that was just occupying space in my living area. Although I placed some items on it because it could not just be there empty, an idea came to me to convert it into a small cupboard to store food items.
The table was a standard four-legged table with an open space beneath it. So, I called a friend who does carpentry work, and together, we practically and creatively crafted a cupboard. Today, I use it to store many things, such as food items and my yet-to-be-repaired gas cylinders, which were previously kept in an open space, occupying a lot of space on the ground.
Although the craftsmanship on the table is not that beautiful, as we used unaligned woods and boards, it serves a good purpose by keeping those items off the open space and saving a lot of room. Now, the table serves two purposes: the top is used to hold the gas cooker, while the space beneath it is used for storage.
Sometime last year, I got a washing machine, and while unboxing it, I initially wanted to discard the large carton it came in. However, a thought came to me, suggesting that I could use it to store some items. Normally, it was a big carton with open ends on both sides, making it seem useless. But I decided to place one end on the ground while keeping the top open.
This way, it became a storage space where I put bags of clothes, keeping them organized instead of having them scattered all over the floor. The carton is thick, and I am not sure it will get damaged anytime soon unless I overload it. I understand its capacity, and I am careful not to overload it to avoid expansion and possible tearing.
Back then, I was the type of person who did not care much about keeping things organized or making a place spacious. I would see items that were supposed to be in the kitchen comfortably sitting in the living room, and I would not bother. But my new personality has changed—I now get a headache when I see things cluttered, with no space to pass through. In my compound, we have a lobby where co-tenants frequently dump their items in a very disorganized manner. I have found it difficult to tell them to arrange their items properly because I do not want them to take offense. So, many times, I would simply pack their items into a corner and rearrange them. Over time, they noticed how I did this very often, and now they have started organizing their items on their own without cluttering the space we pass through. That is my lifestyle—I do not want to add stress to my head by seeing scattered items.
