During last year's Christmas, one of my junior siblings didn't come home because they refused to relief on her on her workplace. She's not that a full adult but just trying to fend for herself so we all felt for her. When I got home that day and was expecting everyone to be at home but she was the only missing. I put a call through to her and she cried all through the phone call. She felt so lonely there and was missing the family gathering we usually have every Christmas season.
My Christmas celebration is all about bonding with family members both nuclear and extended family. It's like they mandated it that everyone must be complete at home whenever it's Christmas season.
For I and my siblings, all of us are scattered everywhere, some are schooling, some are working while some are in their husbands houses, so it's only Christmas we have to opportunity to have a full house without being compelled to come home and it's always lovely to share the same room again with siblings.
The extended family members are not left out, most of us don't see from year to year except at Christmas season. One funny thing that keep occuring is that, the ones residing at home (those that live there) are always billing us that came for the holiday and it's a must to give them money or gift unless you're ready to be tagged as stingy. Lol😂. They think that those that are hustling outside are plucking money on a tree😂.
Christmas is the only season I know that people in my village share gifts (majorly food items) to one another. It's rare to see someone gift out a cup of rice in an ordinary day, but in Christmas season, we share food items as deep as raw meat to family members and neighbors. Also, politicians that are sons and daughters of the land donate food items to each extended family members to distribute to every member. It may not count as something interesting to you but to us it goes a long way in killing beefs that are among the people.

I'm a foodie even though I eat a lot and it doesn't reflect in my statue🤭. Christmas period is one of the periods I love to eat to stupor because there's always enough to eat.
It's the only season we have access to "steal" meat and still eat it in the public without being shouted at or judged.
Does it mean that we've not been eating before, I mean before Christmas? Of course we've been eating but there's a different vibe attached to Christmas food, it tastes differently especially the chicken we used to eat regularly.
Till today, whenever I visit home for Christmas, I still go around to dear extended family houses to eat different meat. Infact, I make calls to check on who has goat meat before setting out to eat. Yeah, if Christmas passes without eating goat meat, that means the Christmas is not fully done.
As for me, it's hard to pick one thing among these, as ONE THING that makes Christmas special for me. For sure, family comes first but what is Christmas without food?🤗
