Hello friends in the Hive Ghana community. Thrilled to lend my voice in this week's engagement prompt.
None of us was born empty, we all were born with a gift. Not money, but a talent. Some with voices as cymbals, others with strength to fight , others with feet like Messi and others with waists that can dance your sorrows away. Mine was a gifted hand not for war but for craft.
My Gifted hands..
I started using my hands creatively from my toddling years. From home chores to the farm for planting, weeding and harvesting operations. The hands were also utilized in post-harvest processing of the produce we harvest - palm fruits and cassava, particularly.
As I grew older, I realized that though I couldn't sing well as my friends, they won't beat me when it comes to doing things with the hands. I knew how gifted my hands were and its crafts have always been superb.
In my early days in the secondary school. I mistakenly and my new school sandal cut and wouldn't know how to tell mum. I had to place a knife in fire and used the red-ho face to solder my cut rubber shoes and it was still good for wears. Then, I started mending slippers for everyone at home.
One day at the market, I met a professional shoe maker and did really appreciated his craft, I keenly watched and started trying out a few things I saw. Then, I again affirmed that my hands could make some beautiful things.
From Talents to Entrepreneurship
When I attended to my National Youth Service Corpse, I had the opportunity to polish my skills in shoe making and it has moved from just being a talent to an entrepreneurship career.
The thumbnail of this post shoes clips of a leather sandal I made after attending my first shoe masking master class. it's just the least I know I can make and each day I pen my imaginations on paper waiting for a day to transfer them into real beautiful foot wears.
my present interest is on how to recycle old shoes into something more beautiful. I'm also working hard in utilizing fabric in my shoe making. Making of shoes is not just a talent, when brushed with the right training can turn into a marketable skill.
Don't forget that your best clothing outfit would never sparkle its beauty until a complementary footwear is used.
I love what I do and I'm proud of my talent - Gifted hands.
I am @Kingswill.
