It took Wylene a lot of talking to convince me into attending an event with her. She even made it her life duty to make sure I was there and on time.
At first I was skeptical about turning up but she kept calling and reminding me of it and gave reasons why I shouldn't and mustn't be late.
We went about our normal and usual week day until it was the weekend when the event was happening.
Wylene gave me a call a night to the D-day and even the morning of that day as well. If persistence was a person, I'll give it to Wylene.
With all the persuasion, I couldn't let her down, so I did turn up, I think even way earlier than she.
Although she was supposed to pick me up from a known bus stop so we could go together, I ended up arriving at the place earlier before she did and unlike me that dislikes people keeping me waiting by the roadside, I forgave her since it was just for a few minutes and she kept calling in between to make sure I wasn't lost or anything , and that was very thoughtful of her.
A few minutes later, Wylene arrived and we both boarded a bus to the event, we arrived early, and that was a good thing. I like to arrive at an event or a new location or gathering earlier before the start of everything. It saves me the unnecessary attention of walking into a place late or after the occasion has already begun.
We were seated for a minute or two before Wylene stood up to do her usual protocol work, speaking of leaving a friend to settle on her own in an event she was invited, phew.
I am not some kid that can't be away from the mother so yes, it wasn't much of a big deal to me, I adjusted and adapted to the new environment pretty well even without her by my side.
Different people started trooping in after a while, young, old, teenager and even children. Yes the event was opened for all categories of people, so there were no discrimination or whatsoever
I looked around and I couldn't find anything interesting to see, so I just focused on what was going on there and minded my businesses.
Not for long though, as a fellow young lady walked in and sat by my side she greeted me with a warm smile that revealed a quarter of her clean white teeth. I smiled back, more like a fake smile but I did returned the gesture cause it would have been impolite not to.
Down into the event proper, we exchanged pleasantries and we started communicating with each other like we've known ourselves from somewhere before. That was strange cause I don't easily do that around people or strangers I just met but it was quite easy with her and at the close of the event, we both exchanged contacts so as to reach out to each other again.
And a few others that came to greet me and exchange pleasantries as well after the event had ended.
I did enjoy myself after all and I was glad Wylene dragged me to the occasion.
I couldn't wait to go for another.
I was looking forward to the next weekend, and I bet you would love to know what unfolded next.
Until you come across my next post, the story isn't complete lol.
To be continued...
Thanks for your time on my post! See you guys around!
