Today, I discovered DeepSeek and immersed myself in it. It’s 100% open source and 90%+ cheaper than OpenAI’s famous ChatGPT. This baby is the result of a side project.

It’s only been a week since DeepSeek-R1 dropped, and people are going nuts about this new AI tool – and rightfully so. Creating an account is super easy. All you need is an email address (or phone), pick a password, wait for a code to be sent to your email/ phone, and BOOM, you’re in AKA diving with the blue Orca.

DeepSeek is impressive. The API is 96.4% cheaper than ChatGPT.

I’ll let you research and delve into all the technicalities. I just wanted to share this amazing tool with the Hive family before the world goes bananas about DeepSeek.

Here’s the official website: https://chat.deepseek.com/

As a huge fan of open source and community-built technology, products, services, and Co., I find it fascinating to watch governments pour billions of dollars into private companies. At the same time, „we the people“ come up with innovations on the fly.

The human family is special. Never underestimate our power when we join forces.

Good to know!! 😉

Good info -- passed it on to some builders I know! Thanks!

I logged in with Google and used it to write a reply to your post on my behalf. Here is the replay it suggested:

"Wow, this is such an exciting discovery! Thanks for sharing DeepSeek with the Hive family – it sounds like a game-changer. The fact that it’s open source and significantly more affordable than ChatGPT is a huge win for the community. I love how accessible it is to get started, and the cost savings on the API are mind-blowing.

It’s incredible to see how grassroots innovation can outpace big-budget projects. Open-source tools like DeepSeek really highlight the power of collaboration and community-driven development. It’s a reminder that some of the best solutions come from people working together, not just massive corporations or government-funded initiatives.

I’m definitely going to check out DeepSeek and dive into its capabilities. Thanks for the heads-up – I’m sure this is going to blow up soon, and it’s awesome to be in the loop early. Let’s see what the human family can build with this! 🚀"

It seems good :)

That's a neat reply! Thanks for running it through the system.
The controversies around this AI tool have already started, especially as it was developed by a Chinese business that specializes in open-source large language models. People can look into the code and check for themselves.
