…except fear itself. I had no idea it was FDR who said that in his inaugural address, but the idea was foremost on my mind today as I was walking home from yet another protest. I know I keep writing about local politics, but I guess if Elon Musk can post about Romania every day and Vice President Vance can warn about the attack on democracy in my country every other day, I am allowed to do the same.
Constitution Square with Ceausescu' megalomaniac People's Palace in the background. At present, the number one landmark in Bucharest houses the Romanian Parliament.
The good news is people here are no longer afraid to speak their mind. The other good news is that the globalist puppets still running the country are very much afraid.
It’s been a particularly cold day today, with -1 Celsius at noon and yet people came out in the tens of thousands to show their support for beleaguered presidential hopeful Calin Georgescu. Ordinary folks. Husband and wife, kids in tow. Elderly women with walking sticks. They all converged to Constitution Square to give their signatures on the supporters lists Georgescu needs to present if he is to run in the so-called new elections, meant to replace those that were cancelled.
I’ve been taking part in various protest rallies for 35 years now and I have developed a good eye when it comes to numbers and the type of people taking part. The silent masses have had enough and they’re not afraid to show where they stand. No doubt about that.
Calin Georgescu came to thank his supporters. (Facebook photo as I was fashionably late to the rally)
In Romania, people were very much against vaccine mandates and we had one of the lowest vaccination rates in Europe. But they were also afraid. Most of the protests during Covid were pitiful… in the hundreds, sometimes even less. People put up with all the restrictions, but they would not join in any rally. Fear.
The Romanian flag has become the symbol of the Romania First movement. Globalist minions use the EU flag to signal their allegiance to Soros-controlled Brussels.
On the other hand, the insane number of policemen and special forces in full gear deployed today at the rally is unprecedented. They weren’t anticipating any violence, just an intimidation tactic.
They were also very active checking people’s bags. One of them was my sister, a very respectable looking 50 something. As far as intimidation tactics go, they sure picked the wrong target as she is fearless in ways a 20 something fresh out of police academy wouldn’t understand in a million years.

The privilege of being old. I was not afraid to take to the streets in 1989 when Ceausescu had troops firing on their own brothers and sisters. I wasn’t afraid to show my unmasked face at the Covid protests daring the police to say something. Imagine if I could be impressed by the display of force today. Annoying as their presence may be, I’m old enough to know that many of those policemen are on our side.
Who’s not on our side is the ruling elite and, to be honest, it’s so much fun to see them squirming. Much like the most deluded of the American democrats, our leaders oscillate between calls to resist four years with Trump in the White House and calls to dismiss the relentless criticism coming from Washington as irrelevant. Just earlier today, our foreign minister said we should pay no attention to what Elon Musk has to say about Romania, as he’s just a private citizen after all.
As a matter of fact, Elon Musk just reposted Mario Nawfal’s tweet about Romanian police trying to stop people from coming to Bucharest today.
Word here is that Trump himself might speak about Romania in the near future and we’re certainly waiting for that.
By the way, the FBI is here investigating the fate of the money for the US military base near the city of Constanta, on the Black Sea coast a stone’s throw from Ukraine. If you care to know where American taxpayers’ money went, there’s rumors a former Romanian prime minister might be involved in this deal. As they say, follow the money…
One of the reasons people here are no longer afraid is the belief the Trump administration has our back. (Better said Trump wants to oust the globalists from Europe and Romania happens to be such a good target).
I, for one, was blown away to hear JD Vance in Munich quoting Pope John Paul II with his famous “Do not be afraid”. Non abbiate paura, he said in his first speech as Pope. Worth remembering that John Paul II was instrumental in bringing down communism.
