This is my entry in the Cosmic Creations contest, with the theme MYTHOLOGY.
Esta es mi participación en el concurso Creaciones Cósmicas, con el tema MITOLOGÍA.
The Eropido is a mythological bird from Argentina, especially from the folklore of the Pampa. It is said that it is a mixture of heron and phoenix and that it is only seen on days commemorating the death of a Christian martyr. Meeting it assures falling in love, finding a partner, getting married and also grants fertility, which is why it is related to the day of lovers.
In the province of Azul, there is a fountain that represents a sighting of the Eropido.
This fountain appears in a tango by Carlos Gardel "La tarde en la que vi la fuente del Eropido". I could not find in which tango he mentions it, but different sources make reference to this song.
To make this work I based myself on all these data. To give it identity I used the resource of the fileteado, characteristic of Argentina.
El Eropido es un ave mitológica de Argentina, especialmente del folclore pampeano. Dicen que es mezcla de garza y ave fénix y que sólo se deja ver los días que se conmemora la muerte de algún mártil cristiano. Encontrarse con él asegura enamorarse, encontrar pareja, casarse y también otorga fertilidad, por esto está relacionado con el día de los enamorados.
En la provincia de Azul, hay una fuente que representa un avistamiento del Eropido.
Esta fuente aparece en un tango de Carlos Gardel “La tarde en la que vi la fuente del Eropido”. No pude encontrar en qué tango la menciona, pero diferentes fuentes hacen referencia a esta canción.
Para hacer esta obra me basé en todos estos datos. Para darle identidad usé el recurso del fileteado, característico de Argentina.
First I made some pencil sketches to see the general composition.
Primero hice unos bocetos a lápiz para ver la composición general.
Then I converted it to simple vectors in illustrator.
Después lo pasé a vectores simples en illustrator.
Then I worked on the thickness of each line and detail and applied full colors to each figure.
Luego trabajé el grosor de cada línea y detalles y apliqué colores plenos a cada figura.
Finally I passed it to Photoshop to give it all the details.
Por último lo pasé a Photoshop para darle todos los detalles.
