Hello everyone. Just a quick post tiday to say
Happy New Year!
to all of Hive.
Here is a quick run down of my night and how my wife and I spent our new years eve. It was pretty low key actually, as they all are for us these days.We stayed in and just hung out really.
My wife had the day off so she made homemade pasta and while I was at work. it took her quite a few hours to do.
I made alfredo sauce for the pasta when I got home and filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli to go with it.
You can never have too much butter, am I right!?! I basted the steak in garlic butter and used the remainder for the brocoli.
The meal turned out really well I think.
After dinner we planned to take the dog for a walk but realized that it was pouring rain so we scrapped that idea and played with him in the basement, throwing his toy back and forth until he got tired. Then we played a few board games together. I won one game and my wife won the other so everyone was happy.
We have a bottle of French sparkling wine and a bottle of Prosecco in our wine rack but neither of us felt like drinking last night. I must be getting old because all I was thinking was - if we drink that bottle I'm going to be hung over tomorrow and the day will be wasted 😅 🙃. I did have a single beer before dinner though, party animal that I am.
We made a plan to stay up until midnight this year, something that we haven't done in a very long time. I don't remember the last new years that we made it to the ball drop. This was going to be our year to do so though. We watched Dune Prophecy after the games and part way through the second episode, around 11:00pm, the power went out in our house and on our street... We sat in the dark for about 5 minutes waiting to see if it would come back on but then we gave up - well I guess we're going to bed after all. After brushing our teeth in the dark and getting into bed the power did come back on. It was around 11:20pm but by that time it was too late for us. Ain't nobody getting out of bed once they are under the covers, am I right? The night was over for us. Another year of not making it to midnight. Maybe next year will be the one..
