How To Make Fermentation To Feed Chickens From Household Waste

in #hive-17768211 days ago

Breeding chickens on a small scale as a hobby requires cost minimization. To achieve this, combining factory-made feed with waste food scraps can significantly reduce feeding expenses, offering an affordable approach to maintaining healthy chickens without excessive costs.

To make fermentation, you need 1) rice barn, 2) factory-made feed, and 3) unused rice. Mix the materials in the following proportions: 50% unused rice, 25% rice barn, and 25% factory-made feed. Add a little water to the mixture, then seal it tightly. Allow it to ferment for 24 hours. This process creates a nutritious, fermented feed that can benefit your chickens, providing them with enhanced nutrients while reducing costs.

To obtain unused rice, I ask a small restaurant not to throw away their food waste. I provide a pail for them to store the waste. At night, when the restaurant is closed, I collect the waste and take it home. The waste is free, and the restaurant owner is happy because they no longer have to worry about disposing of it. There's a significant amount of waste every day, which helps me provide a cost-effective solution for feeding my chickens.

Fermented food offers excellent nutrition, enhancing the value of the feed. Restaurant waste not only contains rice but also fish heads, bones, and other scraps, which provide valuable sources of protein and minerals. This combination improves the overall nutritional profile of the feed, benefiting the chickens and ensuring they receive essential nutrients for growth and health.
