We're back after a couple of days break as it was my Birthday and I've been away so with an exciting week, we have a lot of catching up to do!
Our last game was the Champions League semi-final 1st leg between Man City and Real Madrid, and what a game!
Finishing 4-3 after Kevin de Bruyne opened the scoring after just 2 minutes, followed shortly by another from Jesus as City peppered the Real goal. Real were not laying down though and kept dragging themselves back into the game aided by a Benzema double which was ultimately in vain by the final whistle blew in the phrenetic and classic cup game!
We'll have a look how you guys did at the end but we have to mention the other semi-final on Wednesday between Liverpool and Villarreal which ended 2-0 to Liverpool after Liverpool patiently ground down the stubborn Villarreal resistance to make an all England final a distinct possibility, not to mention, improving the chances of an incredible quadruple!
And so to tonight, and we'll take a breather and slow things down with a visit to the Championship...
@nathen007's Prediction
An interesting situation in this game as with 2 games to go, QPR have no chance of reaching the play-offs and have just announced that their manager, Mark Warburton will be leaving at the end of the season.
Sheffield United however, sit in 6th, the final play-off spot and being only 2 points in front of Middlesbrough have not yet secured their place so will need a win tonight to leaving them to only avoid losing in the last game of the season to secure that spot.
I think this could go two ways for QPR. Either they will come out and go through the motions and Sheffield will hammer them or they will fight tooth and nail with a point to prove for their manager. They have had no problem scoring this season but their leaky defence has let them down badly.
Hmm, players do play for pride and with a nice win bonus helping them to pay for their summer holidays, it might not be such a rollover, however, I still think Sheffield need this too much to let the chance of a play-off place pass them by...
Prediction: QPR 1 : 2 Sheffield United - First goal scorer: Billy Sharp
Simply write the name of the FIRST GOALSCORER, the CORRECT SCORE AND the TIME OF THE FIRST GOAL as a comment. The competition closes 5 minutes before kick-off which is 19.45BST
Don't forget, you can't choose the same prediction as me!
In the first goal scorer competition, own goals do not count. In the correct score competition, it's the score after 90mins. Extra time and penalties do not count and the pot for each competition is fixed at 25K except the time of the first goal competition which rolls over daily starting at 1K. If more than one person chooses the same first goal scorer or correct score, the prize is shared, and everyone gets a little upvote! Don't forget, you can't choose the same prediction as me! It seems I also need to add, one entry per person. Don't forget new rule that only people with a rep of 50 or above are eligible to enter unless they have been approved. My game, my decision is final.
And the Winners Were...
At 4-3, @chrisparis' fine run of form ground to a halt but rather unsurprisingly, no one getting the correct score. Time of the first goal, 2mins? Nope. So how about De Bruyne as the first goal scorer? Here we go...
Well done to @alovely088 , @kraken99 , @yeckingo1 and @gvkanten who share the 25k, taking home 6250 each.
That's all for today guys. Thanks for playing and if I've missed anyone, please let me know in comments. Have a great Friday, and we will have something a bit special tomorrow so be sure to tune in early.
