Introducing the All-New Articles Page on LeoFinance | Communities Support, Hive Trending Feeds and More

in #hive-167922last year

The new UI has allowed us to go back to the drawing board on literally everything in the LeoVerse.

Our goal is to build the ultimate Web3 Everything App. This app would allow you to do all sorts of things in Web3 that are valuable and community-building activities.

Creating Short-Form content (Microblogging) is the obvious centerpiece of this new UI. We launched the new UI on May 1st and I think it's safe to say that it has been a wild ride ever since then.

In just one month's time, we've made incredible updates and progress on this UI. We focused on fixing bugs throughout the course of May and now, in June, we are back to releasing new features.

In just the past week, we've released a wild range of new features that have completely changed the experience on LeoFinance. Two of the most notable are the new Notifications UI and the new Articles UI..

Introducing the All-New Articles Page on LeoFinance

We wanted to do something special with the Articles UI on LeoFinance. Wen we launched the new UI on May 1st, so many people asked "but what about Long-Form?" or "is long-form dead on Leo?"

The short answer was a resounding: NO.

Long-Form is not dead. Long-form is still a cornerstone of the LeoFinance experience. We had this update lying in wait for our bug fixes on other features to deploy.

As we said, the UI is centrally focused on microblogging but long-form articles are still a staple in the experience. We wanted to make the transition back-and-forth from short to long-form content seamless and enjoyable.

As you experience LeoFinance, we want you to be able to get what you want, when you want it and however you want it.

The modular experience is coming to life.

Hive & Communities Support

One thing on the old LeoFinance UI that we never had was support for anything that wasn't "Leo-Related" content.

This was important for our early-stage brand building. We needed to carve out the Finance niche before we could move on to bigger and better things.

Well, the new UI and Threads have completely changed that. We've introduced the Hive blockchain to microblogging and now it's time for a new evolution.

On the new Article page, you'll notice that you can toggle between "Following" "Trending" "Hot" feeds that you are familiar with.

BUT... dive a little deeper. You'll also notice a "LEO" and "HIVE" toggle.

This will allow you to toggle between the traditional LEO feeds that you are accustomed to and also the main Hive feeds that you might have used other UIs for.

One resounding piece of feedback from our users has been the request to interact with other aspects of Hive outside of LeoFinance, without leaving LeoFinance.

Ask and you shall receive. You can now experience the best of Hive, all from a singular UI.

Communities Support

We're beginning to roll out support for Hive communities. A long-requested feature. Right now, these are just visually added to the UI. In the next week or so, we'll start connecting communities to the UI and you'll be able to:

  1. post to communities
  2. read content from communities
  3. join communities
  4. moderate communities

... and one of our biggest integrations will be Threads for Communities. Communities on Hive will be able to join LeoFinance and create their own Threads feeds within the Leo UI.

This will allow any community to create, engage with and moderate threads created through their very own Community Page on LeoFinance.

If you go back in time to when we launched Community Pages, you'll understand a bit of our future vision for Communities to join the LeoVerse.

In addition, we have some really exciting news on the partnerships front. We're bringing in over a dozen projects to the Hive ecosystem. Some with over 100k followers on Twitter and hugely vibrant communities.

As we roll out a few updates to Communities and Community Pages on our UI, we'll also get these partnerships into full gear by having them create their own Hive Community and then promote it to their community. They'll then be able to Thread and Create Long-Form Content for their Community.

This is all possible thanks to the incredible backend technology of Hive. Our frontend aims to make this process super smooth.

With Twitter Signups and Google Signups, we're prepping for a massive onboarding event. Go try the new Articles UI now!

Everyday new features are being added and it's a welcome development. I like mostly the notifs where I no longer have to move from one front end to the other just to reply or comment. All in one Notification Tab is very cool

I'm really glad to hear that. Notifications have also been a huge improvement for me and I feel like I can actually reply to everyone now

Waooh, the everything app evolving into many branches. Making things more interesting here.

🚀 that's how we do

On one hand it could be viewed as moving away from the initial focus. On the other, we can see how it expands the offerings.

To be the Everything App means branching out into, well, everything.

That is absolutely right. It's time to redefine what our boundaries were and are

It is pretty functional, I love that!

LEO ecosystem is getting more and more fancy 🦁

This is a crazy super interesting and fantastic development. The future of LeoFinance is just here and it feels good to be here now at the ground floor before the lift moves higher.

Question

With Hive community integrations in LeoFInance, can those non-leofinance posts earn $LEO?

That's a great question. As we evolve this into the everything app, we're going to need to redefine what is a leofinance post and what isn't. Perhaps even the finance part of leofinance could come into question.

We will evolve with the changing tides. At launch, these communities will only earn LEO if the User tags "LEO" or "Leofinance" in one of the tags of their post. If they don't, then those posts won't earn LEO.

If they do and the LEO community deems that the post shouldn't earn LEO, the community can self-police. How we go about that is - as everything is in the LeoVerse - up to the community itself

@leofinance projects are really massive and great especially the Web3 which is a new revolution in financial awareness and data ownership.

That's good news for every hive user, especially the lions as they don't need to use multiple apps/tabs to keep tabs on their favourite hive authors anymore.

Thanks for the good work.

Yes absolutely! The everything app needs to house... everything!
